The Patriots are done. Maroney has never shown that he can be dominant back and Cassell will not be able to replace Brady. Patriots might still make the playoffs, but someone will trip up Cassell along the way. However, Cowboy fans shouldn't relish this. How sad is it, if you think, that the only way you can win the World Championship is because someone has an injury to a key player? By the way, there are some other teams that might have something to say about who is this year's World Champ along the way. They may not be playing playing great now, but we all know it's more important to get on a roll at the right time and that's the end of the season.

Why shouldn't the Patriots bring in Culpepper? Just promise him a chance to compete for the job. He might go for that. He probably just wants a chance. What happens if Cassel goes down like Scott Mitchell did when he was filling in for Dan Marino? We had to sign Steve DeBurg. Do what you can to win games. (Short of cheating, that is. :) )

    We'll try our best.

At winning without cheating of course. ;)

I agree the hit was rather pedestrian. Sometimes, its the little things that get ya. I know Brady had leg issues in the pre-season was it the same leg?

    Curse of the SB loser?

The kid they just drafted from San Diego St (can't recall his name) could step in. I have more confidence in him than Cassel.

Daunte got screwed in '07 & '08; neither he or Flutie is the answer for the Pats.

Watch the film in slow motion if you get a chance, with the focus on Brady's knee. Not a pedestratian hit from that angle.

If the diva known as Broadway Brett can do it then so can Daunte.

Madden can vouch for both DC & BF.

Flutie's older than I am. And that's REALLY old.

I think the Bills and Jets have a wide open door now. The Patriots are probably done. I don't think they'll be horrible or anything but they'll be lucky to win 7 or 8 games this year without Brady. I actually think Culpepper is a good option. What do you have to lose at this point?

If he beats out Cassel in practice then hey you got someone better. If he doesn't then cut him.

No, just my own TV show (Boston Legal)!

He is 2 years younger than me, 46.

He'd literally shatter into piece after one sack, trust me :)

Well...a fluke injury is how Tom Brady's career got started in the first place.

Chris Simms and Tim Rattay are coming in for work outs. According to Michael Holley's Patriot Reign, Rattay was the other option when the Pats selected Brady.

As for the other options, I'll pass. Lets give Cassel a shot and see what happens.

Also, I'm still picking the Pats to win the division.

If I was a Pats fan, I'd rather Cassel than Simms or Rattay. At least you don't know if Cassel sucks or not. Simms and Rattay, we have all the proof in the world that they're no good.

I think Brady will be back much sooner than everybody is saying right now.

You think that, but do you believe it? I know when LT went down in the playoff game last year, I thought for sure he'd be back after the half. That was the fan in me thinking that, though. Realistically, I knew if he could have been out there, he would have.

I think the same goes for Brady, I think your holding out for the official news to come out from the Patriots organization, but in all actuality, you believe his season is over? I mean...I could be way wrong here.

What concerns me about the unofficial, second hand reports, is that they have Belichick saying that Cassel is going to be the QB going forward or that Brady will be out for a while. He's not saying stuff like that, not even to the team, if its not legit.

Also, for any Patriots injury news to leak, you know its significant. Last season Sammy Morris went on IR and I still can't tell you what happened to go the guy.

Some people really have poor taste and if there is indeed karma in life it'll get them back sometimes.

They just said on the local sports report that Brady's definitely out for the season, and Belicheck was on saying it.
