Didn't Charles get into it (verbally, through the media) with Kobe just a few years back? Charles calls people out, it's his job. He's called out he Mavericks, the Nets, Kobe, now Lebron. People need to just play their game and get used to it.
If there's one thing Lebron hasn't done, it's talk about what he's going to do in two years. He's handled this whole thing as professionally as possible, so yeah, Barkley is being stupid.
I'd have to agree with Lerbon on this one. Charles is an idiot, his whole purpose of being with the TNT crew is to be an idiot because it's supposedly entertaining. I had a lot of respect for Charles as a player, but damn did he turn out to be such an annoying commentator. His mouth must smell like shit cus all he does is talk out of his ass. Don't worry Lerbon, nobody takes Charles seriously anyways.. and I think Dwayne still don't have him in his fav 5
Barkley is known for his big mouth, but I don't really think he was at fault this time. Lebron has no business talking about something 2 years down the road and I'm glad Barkley said something about it. He needs to start talking about it in June or July ... in 2 years. Or AFTER he makes a decision. It isn't fair for his teammates who are having an amazing start so far or the fans. I just don't see the relevance or importance of Lebron even mentioning this.
Ice! Welcome back, good to see another former JBBer. LeBron has been sending out hints all over the place, he hasn't been as professional as possible in this case. And I'm not talking about the Yankees hat and Jay-Z and all that stuff. He's been asked about the Nets and his future multiple times and not once did he say something like "I'm focusing on this season right now, we have a great team and we're playing for the championship". Each time, he has put more and more doubt into the hearts of Cavs fans, the front office and most importantly, his teammates.
you're way off on that GMJ, LeBron has been talking about how teams have been dumping salary to line up for the summer of 2010 and how exciting it will be, etc etc. He just hasn't gotten into any specifics about where he'd like to go, but he has implied that he is looking forward to having a chance to move. I think Barkley is dead on, Lebron is being disrespectful to the Cavs organization and more importantly the fans who are expected to watch him play for the next 2 seasons and then most likely jump ship.
The Bulls went through worse with Elton Brand. Brand was pretty vocal about not wanting to re-sign with the Bulls after his rookie contract, and they ended up dealing him for the draft pick to get Tyson Chandler. This was while he was still under contract for at least a year if not two. I've seen tons of speculation about LeBron and his potential destinations in 2010, but I've not seen that he's behind it. He's not stopping it, either.
I'm with Barkley on this one. LeBron has been completely disrespectful throughout this entire situation. When you're with a team, you should never talk about what your future plans are. Show that team you're on some respect, keep your mouth shut, play basketball, and talk about being a FA in 2010, not 2008 when you still have 2 years left on your deal.
it's not lebron's fault that the media constantly questions him about this. and what's wrong with him saying that teams are dumping salary for the summer of 2010 and that it's going to be exciting? teams are trying to clear salary for the summer of 2010 and there are a lot of really good players that may be available then.
Well, he could opt to not talk about it. Just because the media asks doesn't mean you have to answer.
imo barkley deserved it. I have no problem with giving constructive criticism (like Kenny Smith did), but when you tell a grown ass man to "shut the hell up," you can expect to get blasted back..... I think Chuck was dead on also, but I think it's the way he said it that rubbed Bron Bron the wrong way.
Not really. Players ignore media questions all the time. Just because they ask, doesn't mean you have to answer.
Maybe it would. But a simple "no comment" or a vote of confidence for his teammates/fans would be better.
