Bill Simmons said it best. They got two second bananas (Brand and Iggy) trying to pass for franchise players, this team is not a contender.
To this teams credit, they're still trying to figure eachother out. 13 games is too early to assess a team that made that big of a move in the offseason. It takes time for players to get accustomed to how their new teammates play, so struggles are bound to happen. I think once they start to mesh, they'll be a lot better, but it's just going to be a work in progress for a while. It's also not helping that Brand is shooting 43.1% from the floor....which is 7.2% lower than his career average of 50.3% and is his worst FG% since the 03-04 campaign.
i haven't gotten to see a lot of the sixers so far this season, but brand's numbers are pretty consistent with what he put up last season after he returned from injury. anyone who has gotten to see him a lot this year think that maybe he just isn't able to be the same player he was before?
I'm not. Iggy's style is for the uptempo game they played last year. He's not used to playing in a halfcourt system yet, and until he gets some more consistency with his jumper, I think he'll continue to struggle. Well, unless the 76ers decide to go back to a more run and gun system. That would play more towards his strengths but really neutralizes Brands effectiveness.
Halfcourt game is what is really killing this team. They need to get Elton to play that fast-paced game with them cause the rest of this team likes that running style. Brand should've stayed in LA.
I agree he really should've stayed in LA. Its hurting the team so much because we cant run with elton.
Elton, at least in my book, runs the court pretty well for a big guy. At worst, you could use him as a guy to ignite the break by getting the board and getting it out to Iggy or Miller to run the fast break, much like the Suns did with Shaq.
