A useful Krstic would be far more effective for the Nets than anyone the Thunder can offer- or for that matter, than Yi.
I say let thorn try his magic and make the thunder force their hand. I mean Krstic was gone anyway and the nets really had no futrue plans for him. He went to Russia and really didn't prove his point that he deserved a long term contract. If the Thorn and company can do what they've done in the past they will steal a prospect or two from the thunder, or at least get a high second rounder.
Yeah, but at what price? The cap issues are key, as are the 2010 FA implications. That's why Devon Hardin or a 2nd round pick make a lot of sense. My Joe Smith dreams have faded (as have my playoff contender aspirations) after that dreadful showing against the Rockets.
Does letting Kristic go for nothing set a bad precedent, that you can steel assets from the Nets without due compensation? For Thorn and Kiki’s long term reputations, if OKC refuses a S&T, wouldn’t you have to seriously consider matching and simultaneously doing some trade that screws OKC?
I think the Nets have to match. It's a MLE type deal for 3 years. If it doesn't work out they can bundle him with a pick or another player to get out of the deal a year early. If he can return to 75% of his previous form, he is a starter on the squad. -Petey
I think Krs-C can still contribute at a decent level...but getting a #31 pick would be gravy for a player you didn't really pla to use anyway. Kinda like if the Clippers traded Camby....they only gave up a 2nd rounder for him...and could get better than that in return come trade deadline time from a number of teams fighting for a playoff spot
I'd be happy to get any kind of backup who may be able to compete for Krstic let alone the 31st pick.
A reminder for Rod Thorn what a healthy Krstic brings: <embed width="440" height="420" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://v5.tinypic.com/player.swf?file=ol00o1&s=5"><br><font size="1"><a href="http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=ol00o1&s=5">Original Video</a> - More videos at <a href="http://tinypic.com">TinyPic</a></font> Krstic had the same injury as Nene right? Nene has come back strong from his injury so Krstic could be worth the risk of matching the Thunders offer and bringing him back if they can't get a sign and trade.
You've got as good a chance moving Brook out of the starting lineup as you do moving him in real life. I'm not sure you can play Krstic at power forward...
If we dont match, why do we need a big man back? We need a third PG or some kind of upgrade at SF. I am for Watson or Wilkins or that 31 pick. No need for Wilcox. He will take away from our young bigs.
Sigh, that video of KRstic makes me sad. He was soooo good in that series, as well as the whole season....I really thought he was going to be our version of Dirk until he got hurt (Krstic really was lights out with that Jumper, didnt have the 3 range of dirk but he'd hit tur around J's like it was nothing). Cant remember if it was that series or a different against the PAcers but i remeber being at the once known as Continental Airlines Arena, and watched him dominate JO and saying he might be the real deal.
Its also pre injury video. Show some video of Krstic post injury and you will see a shell of a man. But its near 2 years since the injury and progress should be made. Is he the same, well thats the million or shall we say the 5 million dollar question...
I'm sure they able to watch tape of his recent play and get a feel for what he's got. What I hope is that the 2010 implications don't get in the way, and that this fascination with Yi doesn't impede matching either, if he is back. Why can't he play PF? He's got nearly as sweet a shot as Yi, better defense and court awareness. I mean, if Yi is what they're looking for at the 4... The reason I'm excited is because we're so much better than we were supposed to be- a moderately healthy Krstic makes this a very dangerous playoff team.
The problem with Krstic is when he came back, those 15 footers weren't even falling and that has nothing to do with his knee. Matter of fact he should have came back better at shooting since his lack of mobile movement.
So now we are lucky enough to have an orthopedist on the board. How the hell do you know that his knee wasnt effecting his shot? God damn it, what arrogance.
