Haha, repped. Why would the Pistons give up their best defender, and probably best all around player. They obviously picked up AI thinking that they could make a push to win the east. To Trade Prince now would be counter productive.
Dumars said before that he only wanted one of our big three. I think he's sticking to that, he got Iverson for Billups. Iverson may be an expiring contract, but Detroit might also want to keep him. You never know.
I don't think Dumars acquired Iverson to make a push in the East. Billups is a better player than Iverson, and fits better with the rest of the team. I think he made the deal because Iverson is an expiring contract. Rasheed Wallace's deal also expires at the end of the season, as does McDyess'. I think Dumars saw a chance to retool without becoming uncompetitive and took it. That said, I don't think Dumars would trade Prince (for odds and ends from Portland, anyway). Prince is surely one of the players Dumars plans to retool around.
Well, thanks everyone for the responses. Since nobody else heard this rumor I am going to consider it a pile of crap. Too bad, I was excited when I heard it.
Yeah, I would be excited too, if it were to happen. Prince would be a perfect fit for the team, and giving up only Outlaw/Webster, a pick and cap space would be a steal. Which is why it's really not that believable.
Actually, there is roughly an inverse correlation between how popular a rumor is, and how true it is. Unfortunately, now the whole board has heard this one, so it cannot be true. If you'd kept it to yourself it would have been true. barfo
MARIS is just being logical. Clearly, Pritchard has cornered the market on the best players. If there were any player in the NBA that was better than a player on the Blazers, Pritchard would have acquired him. Obviously. Unless you think Pritchard is insane or stupid, why wouldn't he take a better player over a worse player? We have the five best players in the NBA as our starters (or will, when Webster returns) and the next seven best players in the NBA on our bench. Let the cake bake.
Really? A Star? This board can't even agree that B-Roy is a star yet (and he's 23/ppg Mr. Clutch) Tashawn is solid - good passer, good defender, pretty good shooter. But he's a 12/4 for for his career and 13/7 this year. Looks like a complimentary player, which is fine I guess. I was hoping for someone with more fire power to be honest. Someone with a little more scoring ability. Maybe I should be more realistic.
Just saying I think KP values who he has now and wouldn't be interested in having Prince instead of them. Half of our team is good enough to play on an Olympic team, BTW.
I laughed my ass off as sound as I read that. But he would be a nice addition. He's a very good defender and could step up at any given time.
How often would a rumor from a guy at a coffee shop at least pass the trade checker test? I would think not often at all.
I'd love Prince. High IQ guy, makes the right plays at the right time, can handle the ball. Would be a great addition.
