There are ways to market Yi other than basketball. However, Simmons will be easier to upgrade. Say what you want about Yi and Ryan Anderson, the Nets are not going to give up on them. Yi may be playing horribly right now, but at least over the past nine games he is averaging just 20 minutes a game. That's akin to a sixth or eighth man. I don't really care much if those 20 minutes happen as a starter or a reserve, so long as he doesn't get 30 minutes per game undeservedly. Simmons, while he has been decent recently (at least until his recent injury), will be easier to upgrade emotionally. Trade Simmons and stuff for Gerald Wallace, and I could certainly live with Yi as the starting PF.
What the hell here? Yi isn't the franchise player, he even not play one second in the crunch time, and has the best season +/- stats, yes, Yi play poorly, but he far form hurt his team, the defense of the whole team is terrible, not just Yi, DH has good defense? VC has good defense? simmons has good defense? lopez has good defense? hayes has good defense? hell no, when frank put in these guys, it just getting worse, how many times did these guys get beat hard by the opponent, just go to watch the video tapes, I don't say put Yi in would be better, but these guys just not better, the whole forum full of Yi is a shit post, I just shame of you, just because he is a chinese? he play poorly but don't desire so many blame.
Yi is a decent player right now, if you guys want to bench him, start swift, he is better than Yi right now, but you would lost the future.
when Yi play pf in china nation team, he got about 10 points 7 rebounds, almost the same stats at nets, when he play center in china nation team he can got about 20 points and 10 rebounds, anybody let me know is he a center or a pf? he is way more effective at center position.
I believe he is only effective in a C position if and only if he were in an up tiempo type Offense for example, the Warriors, Knicks...(only two i can think of who implement the run n gun)
The Wallace trade would definitely help our defense. He was some kind of impressive in that game in Charlotte. He would also give us a better small lineup when he plays the four over what we get with Simmons because of his ability to block shots inside. Still not sure that it makes the most financial sense, however. Isn't his contract REALLY long?
no no no, he isn't just a run n gun center, he had a beautiful turnaround driving layup or dunk, his turnaround driving is very very very quick, you can see in the highlight face Dirk last year, he also had a beautiful short range turnaround jump shot, what he can do well is got the ball within 10 feet from basket, beyond this range he almost can do nothing, why? he can't dribble, he has poor footwork, he can't do a long range dribble-drive, within 10 feet, he just need to dribble once or don't need to dribble to operate. I don't say give Yi lopez's job, Yi can backup the c, or play twin tower, or let him post up more.
How about we just give Ryan Anderson more minutes than Yi? Although Ryan has not played that well, he needs a chance to play and develop his game. He has a lot of potential. Besides, what could be worse than watching Yi get exposed on every play?
Yi's played very few minutes for the past couple games, Ryan gets like 6-7 min in the first half after Yi and is completely forgotten in the second half. Frank likes his 1 big 4 small a lot it seems.
