Does anyone love how everyone was cheering and hugging but Devin harris had a straight stoneface like he was jealous.
Would have been a real downer if the Nets lost this game after coming back and also factoring in their struggles at home. I was feeling really pessimistic after the first half and also when the Hawks stole the ball and took a one point lead at the end of overtime. Then they tipped the ball on the in bounds and Carter had to chase it down and bring it back up court and set for the long 3. I was like.. damn ball got tapped, damn carter for the looooooooooooooooong 33333333333333. YES!!! Thankfully that Carter 3 went down for the win.
probably because he was having a great game till he hurt his hammey, then after that he didn't make a shot and had a few turnovers. I'm surprised Hill didn't replace him with dooling mid way thru OT. He was just off after his cramp.
If that was a dog of a game, I'll take it every night. He missed about 5 gimmie layups off of excellent drives, but those are the breaks some nights. Shot the 3 ball exceptionally well, had some HUGE defensive plays, made some nice passes off drive and kicks, and obviously bailed the whole thing out at the end with that Vinsanely audacious 32 footer that ripped the net at the buzzer.
Carter is having a career year. First his leadership with the youngens, then his clutch shooting which makes him the best clutch shooter in the league so far this year, and did anybody notice the great defensive plays he made late in this game. Carter is becoming a complete basketball player this year.
You guys is blind, Yi play 23min and got 9 rebounds, when he on the court, good things happen, it isn't just lucky, why? he do a very good defense and spread the floor very well by use his speed. your stupid guys still blame him, what a fan, lopez fault to help defense and got a foul, you guys blame on Yi don't stop the little man, why did Yi has to stop that little man, he wil got a foul, he let him pass, lopez has the better positon to do a help defense but got the foul, it isn't Yi's fault, I knew lopez was anger about that, I don't know why? Yi just become smarter, everything is Yi's fault, I know I know, he need to be the superman, he has to stop everyone everytime so you don't blame him, but I don't worry about him, I know what Yi can do, he will turnaround, You know what? why can Yi shot the ball so many times? because he is tall, he is quick, he always can got a postion to shot, it's a very very important advantage, no many player can do that, you has his tall, hasn't his speed, you has his tall, has his speed, hasn't his Vertical, you just can't block his shot, once his shot fall, he is a beast, he is just too talent, I don't worry, you guys continue to blame him, I don't care about that, you will know how stupid you are.
He was 5-17 until he hit that last shot, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 turnovers. Not one of his better games, agreed? But still, this is why even at 5-17 you keep him on the court and you go to him when you need the biggest bucket of the game.
Not one of his better statistical games, but, as the Vince haters always remind, stats don't always tell the story. He did a good job of getting the ball in the paint on a number of occasions, which led to a couple putback attempts and good shots for teammates (whether or not made and whether or not he got the ultimate assist). He was on fire from 3 (5-7), and that easily softens the blow of the missed layups. The "intent", as Frank likes to say, was good. And you must also consider that Devin is now in control of this team and will dominate the ball when he's feeling good. As a result, on nights like this one when Devin got it going in the second half, Vince's role is quite different, a secondary scorer and playmaker, ergo his numbers are not going to be as high as in the past. No, it won't make VC's top 10 games of all time, but he was playing reasonably well all around before the last shot, which of course diminished quibbles about the prior 52 minutes and 58 seconds.
I'm not a Vince hater by any stretch. My point is simply that when you have a proven player like him, you go to him in the clutch in spite of his shooting 6-18.
In the first half Yi played most of his minutes and the nets were down by 20. In the second hplaalf he hardly played at all and the nets came back and won. How did he help win the game? He got 9 boards good, but how many were even contested? He is a soft player and the nets are compelled to start him because of the marketing which is sad, but the nets aren't doing well financially so they are forced to. As basketball fans we have all played the game and understand the game. We are not Yi fans we are nets fans. I hope he does well, but with the season almost half way thru it clear to see that what you have is what you have. Another seven foot soft shooter. He could never play the post in the nba. He is used properly, and i honestly believe he makes most of his shots in practice. He just chokes in game time. Maybe he will mature, maybe not. Now the nets new mantra is he's a third year player before he breaks out. Maybe , maybe not. After watching the Olympics, preseason, and 35 games into the season i've seen enough to understand he is not worth all the hype about him. If he hires a personal trainer in the offseason to teach him defense he could improve. He won't improve this season, He is what he is. And, he doesn't deserve to be a starter in the nba.
Oh I know that. I wasn't directing that at you. I was saying that EVEN Vince haters are quick to point out that stats can sometimes mislead. I still think he had a good game overall. Those defensive plays where huge, both in terms of getting the crowd going and (the late single-handed stop of Smith and Williams) huge in terms of getting a crucial stop. He's dogged so much for defense that when he contributes at that level on that end, it earns some major credits for missed (but good) shots. Oh, and I totally agree about going to him. Felt he should have had the play run for him on a couple of other late possessions when Harris was really struggling with turnovers and bad shots.
Give what a break, that Devin had nearly a triple double in turnovers? That he missed 5 shots in a row? That he nearly blew the game by turning over the ball and had to be rescued by Vince from what was a complete goathorn type game?
