Last night it is reported that Yi had another one of his good games, or we can call it one of his potential games.
Unfortunately, for me i missed the third qtr and half of the 4th qtr cause i was watching the Texas Ohio state football game which had a fantastic finish for those of you that missed it. I left the nets game when they were going into a funk, and were down in double digits. At that point in time Yi had 7 pts and his shooting was pretty good at the time. I remember thinking to myself as i went to watch the football game that this is a good opponent for Yi, in that Mikie Moore and the Kings are a perfect opponent for yi to excel. Sure enough he did.

Now, which begs the question for all nets fans....... How long till the next time??

Is this another flash of his potential? Is this a break out game and we will see more of this type of aggressive play? Or do all the factors have to be right for Yi to have a double double type of game? Time will tell for sure, and i hope this is a building block for him. Just interested in your thoughts, not here to bash Yi, just want your opinions..

    Oh yeah, go nets!!

So Yi kicked ass when you weren't watching... maybe you should just not watch anymore nets games.

This game is a sample of the offense when it's ran through Yi. This will only happen when Harris is off the floor. You notice Carter is a better play maker than Harris. However, it's nice to have a 3rd or 4th option on the offense and take advantage of weak defenders at the PF position.

It will really depend on the future match up. Yi has shown the ability to play under pressure, he is slowly improving. His potential as a 7 foot player is off the charts.

You see how Lopez struggles sometimes. The same will happen to Yi in the low post. He will be an up and down player, mostly due to his wide range of abilities, he hasn't mastered any of them. To be fair, Yi is fundamentally sound. That's saying a lot for a 7 foot import from China.

    More from Dave D

It's surprising that Yi hasn't asked to play in the post before. I guess he just goes along with whatever the coaches tell him to do. As for his consistency, I'll like to see him play well every game but that's unlikely to be the case. However Franks is showing more trust in him lately. Anderson seems to be out of the rotation now, so Yi doesn't always have to over look his shoulder when he makes a mistake. Najera has been backing him up and only playing about 15 minutes, meaning Yi's minutes has become more consistent. The guy has talent but sometimes look so lazy out on the court and that's what irrates me. Play hard, leave it all on the floor so that these 22/13 type games aren't just an occassional thing.

I just don't think he's strong enough to play in the post every night but if he can get the ball there and face up, I think he's significantly quicker than a lot of 4s, he just gets bodied a lot and can't back people down. Also, him and Brook both down there clogs the lane and is the exact opposite principle of the dribble drive offense, I think. But if Devin or Vince is out, going through Yi and Brook would be AWESOME.

I personally think Anderson helps Yi's progress. Anderson does some of the little things better than Yi, and it's always easier to imitate than it is to create. Both Anderson and Yi face the same challenges, it's better to have a partner than face it alone, even if they do fight for playing time.

Well like coach frank and most good coach's say lets not get to excited over wins and to down over losses. In this case lets wait and see. It appears it was a good game or half for yi. Was it the opponent or is it really a break out game. Tonight will be a good test to see. First off we are playing a poor opponent full of young players. Yet this young team has surprised some good teams. The game is home and Yi will have an opportunity to build on his latest success.

I'm looking forward to tonights game and will be paying close attention to him on both sides of the court. Also looking closely to what he does when he doesn't have the ball. Will he just stand around and then drift towards the half court line once a shot goes up by another nets player, or will he be aggressive and crash the boards. Will he just shoot a long range shot when he does get the ball or try to take his man off the dribble and drive, or maybe make a great pass.

This is part of the development i've been waiting to see from Yi. Tonight will be interesting......

I don't think anybody is getting carried away. We've followed Yi for a while now, some a lot longer than me. We've all seen Yi go missing after having a good game before. However somewhere along the line he is going to break that cycle. The sooner the better.

Yeah, good game by Yi again tonight. However, they didn't let him post up. His defense was good, but he got in foul trouble and backed off a bit.

I admit i'm very impressed with Yi again tonight and i did see the whole performance. Now,,,,, the next game will be the ultimate test for Yi. Going against the bucks.

Yi vs his old rival charlie V. This will be a true test for him and the young nets front line. RJ vs Simmons and you know RJ will take this match up very personal. Brook vs the Aussie, both big seven footers although i feel Brook is more talented on offense. VC vs the chucker Redd. So this game will have a lot of sub plots in it.

Also it will be a pressure pack game for Yi returning to the city that he told he didn't want to resign for, so expect the crowd to give him a raptor type reception that vc gets. This is a much tougher front line for the young nets than the past 2 games, so i feel this game is really important for Yi, becasue he needs to give us a killer performance on the road in an unfriendly environment.

Bogut's been out with back spasms. He missed 4 games and might not play Friday.

I also wanted to add that CV was a really classy guy and teammate for Yi. He could have been bitter, but he showed a lot of composure in front of the media. Don't think I ever read anything negative said from CV about anyone even while pressured to do so.

The fans however are terrible. Always needing to lynch someone after a bad game and bragging excessively after a good game.

I am just hoping that Frank keeps calling plays for Yi to keep him involved, and not just have him sit by the 3pt line waiting for a kick-out pass. No way he is able to gain any kind of consistency or rhythm if all they have him do is take a bunch of long jumpers all game (like they have for most of the season).

The Nets overall are a better team when there is a lot of ball movement and player movement. The problem with Frank is that he is in love with his stars, so when Harris and Carter are in the game together, Frank just uses his forwards and center to spread the court and let the guards do whatever they want. With Harris out, they move the ball and play better as a team...

I agree with this one hundred percent. I hope Devin sitting on the bench realizes this as well and trust his teammates more. I think the biggest change I've seen in Yi these last couple of games, not just the last two but even in the Miami one, is that he's attempting more jumpers inside the 3 point line. He hits these shots like water! Great form on his jumper, very high release.

He'll have another good one today, he's bound to have a consistent streak of very efficient games...I don't see why now can't be that time, I think he's finally starting to get more confident in what he's capable of.
