There was a lot of excitement and even expectations that LeBron was going to become a Net in 2010. My feeling all along has been that he's going to re-sign with Cleveland, since few FAs really do change teams. Do you still think he's going to be a Net? Or a Knick? Some other team?
it always seemed like a long shot to me. I don't think it'll happen, but I still am keeping my fingers crossed that it does.
I'm pessimistic. First, the Nets likely won't move to Brooklyn by that time, which means LBJ will not be willing to play in the swamp. Second, Cleveland can still pay LBJ the most money. Also LBJ seems like the kinda guy who prefers not to displease people, or turn his back on people, in this case there are the Cleveland fans. He is also from Ohio and definitely has roots there that he might not be willing to break there.
I expect him to stay in Cleveland, but from what I understand the situation is this: LeBron wants to stay in Cleveland, but LeBron's people want him to move elsewhere. I just hope that LeBron has the sense to go with his own views.
I think when it's all said and done, Lebron is going to end up staying in Cleveland. I don't think his relationship with Jay-Z is going to have much of an effect on his decision. Had Kidd still been a Net in 2010, Lebron would have probably signed with NJ.
Agreed, Lebron has spoke highly of Kidd for the past 12-18 months. I would think he may just sign an extension this offseason given the economic situation. He originally did not want the max years to see what happens with the next CBA, which was to expire in 2010. But with the economic situation and basketball revenues likely to take a hit the next 2 seasons, Lebron may just sign his extension this summer.
LeBron's staying. He grew up there, lives there, his family and friends are there, they can pay him the most money, and he might even have a championship ring by the time 2010 comes around. On more FA opinions, I think Wade + Melo are staying. I see Bosh leaving. Hopefully joining VC in the swamp.
Le crab will end up going anywhere that will get him more money and media exposure. He's consistently expressed his feelings for mega-stardom. He'll be getting a max contract no matter where he's at. He doesn't need the security to stay, unless he's afraid of some uneventful long lasting injury.
He says that his top priority will be going to a team he thinks will give him the best shot at a championship. As long as Lawrence Frank is the head coach, I think he will question the Nets' ability to win the big one...
