You rarely warrant a serious response.

I've watched at least 30 Nets games this season, so don't give me that nonsense. It's a fact that Yi has struggled this season. Lending credence to this are his lackluster FG% and PPG. In addition, there are certain intangibles such as his terrible defense that aren't even mentioned in "box scores". If I'm a

You just sound silly for bringing up the Knicks. Firstly, this isn't about the Knicks, and secondly, never once did I say the Knicks were a good team. It's a weak attempt to "get back at me" for saying the Nets can benefit by Yi sitting out. Yi had some good games the past few days, but you seem to be overrating him. First of all, this little 3-game streak of solid basketball was all against sub .500 teams. Do you really think 3 games of solid games offsets an entire season of lackluster basketball?

This sentence mirrors 99% of your posts.

The fact is that with Yi out, there is 26 minutes which need to be dispersed. Frank may deem it necessary to have Lopez (center) in for longer stretches of the game. For example, Devin Harris was injured and there were quite a few times when Carter (shooting guard) was playing point guard.

Tell me what's going to happen to Yi's 26 minutes then.

I see what you're tryina say, but you gotta admit, it's a different scenario.....VC is VERY capable of being a playmaker....Brooks Lopez is strictly a POST player, he doesn't spread the floor like Yi, Lopez isn't cut out to be a 4-Man...Carter on the other hand is versatile as hell, any1 that's been following carter since his Toronto days can tell you that Carter is the better NATURAL playmaker compared to Devin's shoot first mentality. For the record, the last 5 Games Yi was solid as hell: 15.8 PPG 7.4 RPG 46% FGP in just 31 Minutes...the last 3 he was even better 19.3 PPG 7.7 RPG 53.9% FGP 44.4% 3PtpP 31 Minutes as well (those numbers are very very efficient, almost identical to Yao's, and Yao averages less than 33 Minutes Per game). Not to mention the Nets went 3-2 in that Stretch, ya'll gotta admit Yi pulled his weight when Harris went out.....Yi's injury just might sting the Nets a bit.

EDIT: Yi's actually gonna miss 6 WEEKS, not 4.

I mention Knicks because you said Nate was a good draft pick. Nate has been terrible in the month of January, shooting 29% and is historically a terrible shooter and too short to guard anyone. I felt you were hypocritical, giving Nate a free pass, while throwing Yi under the bus.

    I get MrJ's point here.

Yi's absence frees up 26 minutes of play. With Yi out, it's possible the Frank will go with Boone at PF, for example, and Lopez at C, instead of replacing Lopez with Boone. Then Lopez stays on the court longer than if he had been replaced. Get it?

This is arguably the most asinine post I've read in my 4.5 years on this site. First of all, Yi Jianlian was drafted 6th overall and was projected to be a star by most. Nate was drafted 20th overall and projected to be a bench player. That alone makes a huge difference.

Nate is coming off the bench averaging 16/4/4 this season and shooting 42% from the field. Those are solid NBA stats, especially for a 5'8" guard. Yi is starting and putting up 10/6 while shooting 40% as a 7 footer. Do you see the difference? Furthermore, you are putting too much stock in Nate Robinson shooting 29% in 5 games in January. He is on a little cold streak like 95% of the NBA goes through. This does not make him a bad draft pick, and it would be stupid to think otherwise.

Nate has improved greatly defensively and has doubled his SPG from last season. He plays the passing lanes well and has played solid man to man defense overall. Right now you're just fishing and failing miserably.

Nate is a terrible shooter? You clearly don't watch Knicks basketball.

You were the one that said benching bad underperforming players to give your team a chance to win, or was that not you? You're a hypocrite, giving Nate a free pass. Also, I used your reference on Galo being soft, but you also give him a free pass too. So, if you wear a Knicks uniform, everything is a free pass.

You're losing credibility, that's all I have to say. I can tolerate your view if you share that view on all the players, but you're just jabbing lemming style. That's lame, I get plenty of that from the parrots at Realgm.

How about posting a Knicks game threads consistently on your forum? Also, Lopez and boone are not currently playing as Center/PF. They don't share minutes with PFs, not unless it's due to some uncontrollable foul trouble.

You just don’t get it. During Nate’s first 20 games he averaged 15+ points shooting 48% from the field and over 40% from downtown. In fact, in December he averaged 20 PPG. Clearly, Nate’s history shows he is capable of having a consistent string of good games. In addition, Nate has been good for most of the season. Yi, however, has been terrible for most of the season and rarely has multiple games where he is consistently playing solid basketball. Further, in November, Yi averaged 11/6 shooting a woeful 39%; in December he averaged 8/6, shooting an even worse 37%. In January Yi has been solid averaging 16/7 on 46% shooting, but let’s not forget he only played 5 games this month (3 against sub .500 teams). Nate is on a brief cold streak. Yi has been on a season-long cold streak. Big difference.

I never said Gallo is getting a free pass. You said Yi “pulled a Gallo”, which is just stupid since every player gets injured in the league, and Gallo is not the first player to ever get injured. I understand it was a “shot” back at me; it just didn’t make sense.

The Knicks forum isn't "my" forum, it's everyone's.

lol. Nate has been putting up solid numbers the majoirty of the year, while Yi put up solid numbers in like 3 games. And back to the whole Brook is just a post player and can't step out, last time i checked the majority of PF's in this league can't step out beyond the 3 point line and shoot it. Brook has some offensive game where he can play the four, hes not like Boone or Ben Wallace who can only hit a shot if its a dunk

Sorry, but you're wrong. There's no more minutes for Lopez. He and Boone are the ONLY centers on the roster. Williams played a little center but obviously he's not here.

And Boone isn't a PF. He just can't shoot well enough for the job. He has never played PF with Lopez at center. Anderson, Najera, Swift and Hayes will get extra minutes.

So where are these extra minutes for Lopez coming from?

Btw - you do understand that most 7fters have a high shooting percentage because they usually play in the post and get high-percentage shot opportunities, right? The Nets use Yi primarily at the perimeter, so most of his shots are long jumpers or 3pt attempts. The fact that his FG% and 3pt% are nearly identical gives you a pretty clear indication that most of his attempts come from long range. In his last three games before his injury, his shooting percentage went up because the Nets were using him in the post more...

I was thinking of something like kobimel said. Considering the circumstances, Frank might have no choices but to do that. I don't know when Swift is coming back and Najera and Hayes are somewhat of a liability being undersized for PF.

Regardless, if he isn't getting more minutes, Brook should have more of an impact with Yi gone, and the Nets should be better. That was my main point.

This doesn't make Yi any less of a liability. Yi averages only one made three-pointer per game. The fact that his 3-point percentage has been higher than his FG% for most of the season indicates that he is shooting a worse percentage from a closer distance. In fact, he shoots .397 from close range. So, whether Yi goes into the post or not seems to be irrelevant, as he is statistically lackluster from there, as well. And consistent long two-pointers aren't really a good thing either. They are made at around the same percentage as a 3-pointer, but count for less. Further, Yi's TS% is also unspectacular.

Kobimel said Boone would play more with Lopez. However, Boone has never been on the court with Lopez at the same time. Frank likes to go small, anyway.

You need to stop comparing Yi to Nate. I notice Nate had another great game tonight... but oh wait, he gets another free pass because he's Nate.

the reality tells us Yi is useless. without him, Nets is a awesome team, Nets won all recently three games without Yi and we can totally tell Nets will get in play off if Yi wont play rest of games at this season.
