We could beat these guys. I mean they have good bigs compared to us, but never underestimate Biedrins' quickness. Plus, our guards could be playing better than the Kings this game. If we win the guard matchups, we'll probably have a bigger lock on this game. Plus, we're at home.
Thompson has Biedrins' problem. Refs are quick with the whistle on him. Mags could just go right at him and exploit the rookie.
Rebounds and free throws, if it weren't for points off turnovers, the game would have the Kings further ahead.
Damn, Maggette has been pathetic from the foul line. What happened to him? He kept going up to the line and missing both.
Sigh... when the two weakest kids are fighting out in the school yard, you expect it to be a draw most of the time... Hilarious how at the beginning of the game our fans are pointing their finger up in the air as in we're #1. Number one at what!? Crawford is pretty smart, but his shot selection is like dang get something better! Maggette lost the game!
Ugh... This team sucks. So many chances, so many calls that came to our ways, so many lucky shots, and we still couldn't come up with W. I just hope Nelson will play Randolph bit more, since he really was a difference maker in 2nd overtime...
Yeah when I saw the ending I didn't want to describe it in detail in order to be respectful to you guys. :] Legacy chose quite a game to attend, props.
This team can find a way to lose a game no matter what. Kwan's post and Custodian's 3rd post pretty much sums up the game. It was exciting at least. I remember the Nuggets' announcer saying this, but the Warriors need one more enforcer in the paint, to go with Biedrins. I think I'd agree. But it's kind of difficult to find that big man with Nelson as head coach. Maybe it's Wright or Randolph in a year or two. But Idk...
Yeah the only scenario I can think of Nelson playing Biedrins and another big is if that PF has a Stoudmire's body and Dirk's skill set. Then, maybe Nelson will go big for half of the game. Hopefully, both Wright and Randolph will develop some jumpers to spread the court, so that they can stay on the court bit longer. I can still imagine Biedrins-Wright-Randolph line up. It would be a nightmare for other players to go through 6 long and active arms...
I'm not going to bag on them after this one, that was just an all-out war and a brutal loss. Lots of mistakes were made, but they played with heart on a spit and bailing wire roster. Props to the Kings for gutting it out. I'm almost glad Salmons hit that shot because I don't even want to think what a 4th OT would be like.
Pretty much agree. No complaints besides the poor FT shooting. I mean we didn't have Monta, Jack, Beli, or Wright thats four starter-type guys for this team. Amazing that they got as far as they did riding the contributions of guys who wouldn't even be in the rotation if everyone was healthy (Morrow, Watson, Randolph, etc.)
I had to work tonight, but was able to listen to the game on KHTK 1140 the Kings station. At the end, the Kings talk show hosts were giving the Warriors props. IF the Warriors (Maggette, Biedrins, Turiaf) could have hit their free throws, then they would have won this game no doubt. It was so weird that these guys missed their FTs badly, especially O-O-Maggette-O.
They were up 5 with a minute left in the 2nd overtime when my tivo quit recording. I can't believe how many times these kids would chuck up a shot with anywhere between 10 and 15 seconds left on the shot clock. Missed free throws and bad clock management were the reasons they lost today (even with the rebounding mismatch). Pretty disgusting loss.
I wanted to read your accounts before posting. Here's my courtside assessment, please correct me if I am wrong: Warriors were horrible for most of 3 quarters: awful passing, no d, no fighting for rebounds. offense was mainly 1 on 1. Could not believe that that the W's actually had 24 assists and that Crawford shoot near 50%. The 9 TOs was nice but that was probably because they did not pass much. Before the 4th qtr. the majority of the possessions were dribble across center court and jack up a jumper, maybe get a screen. Warriors made that run at start of the 4th qtr with Biedrins, Morrow, Azubuike, Watson and Crawford. The led by 5 at 6:53 left and what does Nellie do? He subs out Biedrins and Morrow for Turiaf and Maggs. 2 mins later the W's are down and not looking good. Luckily, Azubuike hits a 3 to send it to OT. Announcers at the end were praising Crawford for playing 60 mins. Well you know what? He played like 30 because he does nothing on D or on the glass. His shot selection is awful. Instead of getting shots in rhythm like Martin, he's always going 1 on 1, shake and bake, crossover, fadeaway. Notice that he got the last shot in reg., 1st OT, and 2 OT and he did not come close in either of the 3? And they were fadeaways from 20 ft too. If Crawford is a PG, then I'm Magic because he's just a gunner. Pure and simple. The contrast between Crawford and a mediocre PG like Udrih is amazing. Udrih will penetrate and dish and hit the shooter. Crawford's idea of a dish is a forced pass in traffic. Yeah he scored what 34? They were all forced shots. Warriors played their best TEAM basketball when Maggs and Crawford were out. Sadly, Nellie had to keep putting them in. Warriors 08-09 in a nutshell, End of regulation, Warriors up by 2 with 9 secs. left, Nellie takes out Biedrins for Turiaf, specifically for the screen and roll switch. Well Martin with ball gets screen from Miller, now against Turiaf, goes right by him for an uncontested two hand slam. How does that happen at the end of regulation? For the tie? Where is the help? Somebody knock him down at least, make him pass. Worst team D in the league. Now maybe the worst team in the league.
Your assessments seem to be correct. I just know the Warriors played so much better with Biedrins and then later in the game with Watson on the court. Too bad Biedrins was in foul trouble for most of the game. That really hurt. Even Jim Barnett during the game said, "The Kings just look like they want the ball more than the Warriors." Or I guess I should have paraphrased, but it was essentially that. This was because the defensive rebounding was horrendous.
