People always say the Celtics dynasty of the 60s-70s was the greatest, a HOFer at every position, 11 championships, and one of the greatest coaches ever, regardless of the sport. But let's actually look at their competition as compared to the 90s Bulls Dynasty, comparing the modern era to then, the first thing to point out is a cap situation. This basically made it so another Celtic dynasty would be made, and in the early 90s it was very low, Mj made under 4 mil a year while Pippen made fewer then 1 mil, and the Bulls cap was nearly reached. Now lets look at the teams they played, The Celtics dominated 9 teams, the bulls dominated 29 teams, with pure defense being the definition of the 90s, Gary Payton,Michael Jordan,Scottie Pippen,Dennis Rodman,Dikembe Mutombo,Hakeem Olajuwon,Charles Oakley,John Stockton, and David Robinson, i doubt there was ever that many players that easily deserved DPOY of the year at one time, while in recent years its been a toss up between Ron Artest and Ben Wallace each season who would struggle to even make any defensive team in the 90s much less DPOY. As far as talent goes, you have the greatest player ever and the greatest perimeter defender ever, who could score 20+ a game, and dish dimes very well for a sf, playing pg in the triangle constantly offensively. And yet with just a few role players added to that, and the only team to win a championship without a big man, not only did they win 1 but they won 6, another amazing feat was they lost 1 playoff series in a decade with MJ. While the Celtics with a HOFer at every position failed to make the finals several times, leaving the Lakers several championships. So was the Celtics dynasty really the greatest dynasty?
The Bird era Celtics is hands down the best. Sure they dont have as many titles as Russell's Celtics but they played in much tougher competition.Larry Bird-Dennis JohnsonRobert ParishNate ArchibaldKevin Mchale- The greatest skilled PF of all time hands down.Bill WaltonDanny AingeJo Jo WhiteThat team would destroy Russell's Celtics dynasty.

And it wasnt much of a dynasty either, it was several titles spread throughout a decade like the Spurs currently, and MJs bulls even before pip broke out challenged them many times, including the Pistons taking them out of the playoffs several times.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>But they couldnt stop the laker Dynasty, who were crushed by the Bulls dynasty so what does that really prove</div>They couldnt stop the Lakers? They beat the Lakers in the finals. The Lakers team the Bulls crushed was far from a dynasty. Obviously you never saw them play. It was an aged Magic Johnson and James Worthy leading a medicore team to the finals. Far froma dynasty.

They were all around 26-30 anyway, I wouldnt call that a spent team. Hakeem's Rockets were built around 30+ year old vets, but if he were to lose to the magic in 95 would that give him an excuse why he didnt win the championship? And it was likewise, in the early 80s The celtics were in their prime so they won a few championships over the lakers, but by the time the lakers primed throughout the mid-early 90s they began to dominate the serie's. 3 titles over a decade isnt really a dynasty, its a great team.

Worthy was 30 I think.Because they never got past Detroit they didnt have experience? That gave them the experience they needed.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>3 titles over a decade isnt really a dynasty, its a great team.</div>Considering the circumstances yes that was a dynasty team. They beat some of the greatest teams in NBA history. They also won more than 50 games. The best part was they lost a few key players and continued to dominate
I don't know how the Bulls dynasties aren't mentioned. We are talking about a team that played incredible defence, incredible offensive, and had the greatest player ever gracing their guard spot.
