I've been a fan of the Nuggets since Melo came in and ever since then, this year looks like the best year so far for them to get deep into the playoffs - a big part of which is the addition of floor general Chauncey Billups. Now I'm not talking about the championship yet since there still are bigger teams out there in the West ( LA Lakers to be exact) but I am confident that the Nuggets are going to get farther than usual in the playoffs this year especially with the way they play most of their games. I just hope that they don't choke or get riddled with injuries once again.

    What do you think?

No way. The West is too loaded!

Spurs, Lakers, Hornets, Jazz.. no place for the nuggets in the conference finals.

Welcome to the site homie! Feel free to PM me at any time!

I think the Nuggets can go pretty far with Billups. He is a big upgrade over Iverson at the PG postion and can really hold this team together. I think for the Nuggets, it's a lot on the big men to deliver. However, Nene and Martin I think really want to win championships and Billups is a guy with all the experience.

No way! Jazz aren't doing that well this year and they've been dealing with a LOT of injuries
Hornets might challenge but they're not that exceptional compared to last year and
Spurs get tired faster than usual.

Nuggets have a big chance considering they're still in the top 4 teams in the West!

I knew this was coming so I produced my annual George Karl Isn't Going to Win a Playoff Series Report early this year.

Then too there is the Laugh Out Loud that Dahntay Jones is Going to Start in the Playoffs Report.

And don't forget the posting reporting that the world's highest volume basketball writer David Friedman, who in fact is very rarely wrong about anything, agrees with me that the Nuggets can most likely not win a playoff series. Unlike Friedman and I, most NBA basketball writers are confused about the Nuggets, and trying to ignore the Nuggets and are not making predictions one way or the other.

And just posted was a report on how Carmelo Anthony is no where near as good as he was in recent years, and that as a result the Nuggets, unlike the teams that will win playoff series, have no power offensive, go to guy anymore.

And there are many other reports, including the one titled Rose Colored Glasses.

There are only two known ways the Nuggets could win a series. They could be lucky enough to play a team with a key player or two not available due to injuries. The only other way I know of that the Nuggets can win a playoff series is if they play a team that is just as clueless and/or as inexperienced as they are regarding the playoffs, and there really are not any, although I have a few doubts about Dallas.

I'm as stupidly optimistic as the next guy about this, that, and the other thing, but I decided I was going to turn over a new leaf and not be stupidly optimistic with my sports reports. And I don't regret it, and I won't regret it even if somehow the Nuggets do win a playoff series. In my basketball reports, I'm never going to be looking like this:

No, he's not a big upgrade over Iverson at the PG position because Iverson did not hardly play the PG position for Denver, Anthony Carter did most of the time. George Karl, like many at this particular forum, thinks that Iverson is a pure shooting guard.

So the correct thing to say is that Billups is a big upgrade over Carter at the PG position, which is of course true.

In Detroit, it's a totally different mindset from George Karl, from the majority in Colorado, and from the majority of this forum; very, very few on the Pistons forum I go to now are trying to blame the Pistons situation on Iverson. It's so refreshing and I just really like those folks now.

Karl lied recently when he implied that Iverson was in fact thought of as a point guard by the Nuggets. Among Karl's objectives for lying were to hype up Billups, to hype up the 2008-09 Nuggets, and to take the heat off by creating a new excuse for his total failure in the 2008 playoffs, when the Nuggets were totally destroyed by the Lakers.

What's interesting also about this strange Nuggets winning is that I think, generally, that a different group of fans thinks the Nuggets can win a playoff series this year than were thinking that last year. Last year, those who know that a critical mass of star players are necessary were thinking that the Nuggets could possibly win a playoff series, despite their, to put it nicely, questionable methods of playing the game. This year, it's those who think defensive priority and pride is very important who are thinking the Nuggets could win a playoff series. I think it's largely a different group of people because, for one thing, you could not have fully absorbed how the Nuggets were totally destroyed by the Lakers last April and be confident right now that the Nuggets could win a series this year. Yes, there have been a lot of changes, but some things are worse, such as Carmelo Anthony, and some things are the same, such as the extreme inconsistency of J.R. Smith.

Unfortunately. both last year's and this year's group thinking the Nuggets might win a playoff series were and are wrong the way I see it, and both groups have made use of the rose colored glasses.

Oh well, nobody and nothing is hurt if you believe in your team even if in actuality there is almost no chance they can win.

Yeah i get those. Nuggets have really been inconsistent but this year, they have been less of that and they have been beating teams which they would probably face in the playoffs - though that may partly be attributed to the injuries of their opponents key players. Nevertheless, they are doing better now than they were last year, be it luck or improvements in their team capabilities, and who knows that might actually get them to win a series.

I also think that the confidence they have been gaining with Billups will help them play better.

    We'll see.

It seems more and more likely that the Nuggets will win at least one round and they have a pretty good shot at making the Conference Finals.

The Nuggets are actually poised to do will this year IMO. Not due to their improvement, but to the other teams decent, aka Spurs, Hornets, Dallas. So i think DEN chances are pretty good. I like the nuggets, but i hate george karl with a passion. He is the most overrated coach in basketball, besides Doc Rivers.

All about matchups...chances are they are playing Mavs in the first round in which they are 4-0 against this year. I think they actually have a great shot now that I think about it

Damn! Didn't realize how much impact Billups and Birdman could make! hahahaha

Hope Dallas beats them, then they still won't have room in the conference finals! hahaha
