Well I know you obviously can't make all your game winning shot attempts. but for some reason there are atleast 2 that I can recall where Kobe didn't make it. I'm not questioning his ability to take over a game, or his greatness. But does anyone know if its recorded anywhere who has the most, Game winnning shots, by season, or atleast by their careers, or even better would be if somewhere showed how many, for the win shots they took, and how many they made. Cause 25 for Jordan seems low, but I guess the bulls were so dominant they didn't like for the games to be that close. We know he had one at UNC, but thats doesn't count. Post a link if anyone finds this somewhere please.
I take it you're ignoring the NBA finals where Kobe let the visiting Celtics come back from a 20 someodd point deficit and win in LA? Or the 30+ drubbing in Game 6 where he kind of gave up. How about the Suns playoff game where he stopped shooting entirely and gave up on his team and allowed the Suns to close out the series??
I'd give the ball to Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, or LeBron James. Ray Allen i know can shoot. Paul Pierce is really determined and usually he would either make a shot or get to the line. LeBron can also bully his way to the rim and finish strong or get 2 shots at the line. Kobe is good, but i think he misses more than he makes and he usually settles for long shots.
Kobe didn't give up in these terrible games, the Lakers along with him had sub-par/horrific performances. Playing poorly doesn't mean giving up and every player has off days. We can't all play the Mavs in the Finals.
I'd say Kobe ever since MJ left the NBA. That guy doesn't seem nervous at all taking the last shot. It comes to him naturally. Although LeBron is getting closer after all that he has done. All-time, I'd still go with MJ coz he makes those shots not only in any normal game but also in games that matter most such as against the Jazz in the playoffs. I did see Reggie Miller's shot against the Bulls at the buzzer and man that was great!
Your right it is kind of poor, but you can't hit them all. Kobe's taken so many of those shots in his career, he is bound to miss some to equal out his percentage. Ya know?
If you're talking about last shots, and not taking over down the stretch, Kobe is pretty mediocre: http://www.82games.com/gamewinningshots.htm For a last shot I'd rather have Melo, or even LBJ or Paul Pierce since they can distribute or get to the line and don't turn the ball over as much. And anybody over the age of 15 should know that MJ or maybe Jerry West is the all time guy you want with the ball in his hands for the last shot.
In the playoffs he does well, and plays better than those others you mentioned. I'd estimate that in 03-05 he also did more poorly than in recent history.
