Sorry but why will odom be suspended for 1 game? Haven't seen the game and the highlights told nothing. Blazers fans are fucking five year-olds. Grow up. And get to the WCF so we can beat ya
Reminds me of Horford's foul on TJ Ford last year. It was a careless foul, but not intentional. I voted for the second option.
Ariza obviously didn't mean it, but his attitude after the foul probably made it much worse than it really was. If you hurt a guy, you don't go talking trash.. What the hell is wrong with the Lakers? You see a guy on another team injured by your guy, and you still talk trash?? Classy move
There wasn't really a macho carry on, was there? The LA feed put their cameras on Rudy after the foul and than cut out and B Roy and Ariza were barking at each other. Was Ariza show boating before that or something?
Those of you saying hard foul have never stepped on a basketball court. Why do you think the Trail Blazers jumped on Ariza when it happened. Forget the fact that Ariza just missed a three, Kobe missed a shot after Trevor grabbed the rebound, Rudy was going up for the dunk and his team was down by 30. That foul had malicious intent all over it. Ariza knew he could hit/grap Rudy on his shooting arm that high in the air and he would stop him. Instead he hits him on the head, clips his arm and nudges him to the ground. Maybe Ariza wasn't thinking Rudy would end up on a strecher, but that high in the air, a nudge like that will send you flying because he was persistent and followed through with it. These plays don't belong in the NBA.
thats a bad picture to show the intent of Ariza. His arm has already made a rotation by then. The ball and ariza's hand were closer than you think. It looks like you just got that from another board and pawned what the original poster said.
well, we all know ESPN will put a spin on any bullshit. Honestly, if you watch the video, you can see that it wasn't intentional. In most cases, pictures can't explain a course of action, especially something like this.
Odom should be suspended because he left the bench during the "fight". He never did get on the court though, so maybe he won't...then again the action was off the court. he didn't do anything other than take two or three steps off the bench into the pushing. So he didn't do anything bad, he broke the rule saying you can't leave the bench.
But if they post a picture taken a few seconds earlier, it wouldn't have looked as bad as that one...
thats basically my only gripe. i think if roy doesnt go get in his face, he might have been suspended for that end of it. but it is just a flagrant. im sure the blazers arent going to be shy about having shavlik randolph put one on kobe.
A dirty play is a spur of the moment thing. It's not planned. If Fernandez ends up like TJ Ford, the NBA would suspend Ariza for 3-5 games. The NBA needs to protect its players. A one game suspension would say you shouldn't swing at someone so forcefully in the air. edit: Trevor won't get suspended, but Odom will more than likely be suspended since the rule is clear. I hope he isn't so I can see how the Lakers and the Rockets match up when healthy. Mbenga Gasol Ariza Kobe Fisher
I think it was intentional to a point. I think Ariza meant to give a hard foul and was not JUST going for the ball, but, I really don't believe that Ariza meant for Rudy to get injured. I think in the heat of the moment, he just went a little overboard but the consequences were more than expected.
Really? I'd love to see him try. It'll just fire up Kobe even more. Kobe sure went into his shell when Raja Bell clothesline him in the playoffs a few years back. If that happens, I'm sure the Lakers aren't going to be shy about having DJ Mbenga put one on Brandon Roy.
