How confident do you think we'll be? The Big Three 3 will probably be retired or getting diminished minutes. Do you think we'll need someone else to remain a contender or will Rondo, Tony, Powe, and Perk be the main stars?
Rondo will be the face of the franchise, Perkins will top out as a quality NBA center who isn't quite an all-star. If we (somehow) can sign a top tier guy in 2010, be it a perimeter guy like LeBron, Wade, or Johnson, or a big like Bosh or Amare, then they obviously join the core. I also think Bill Walker will be the franchise sixth man before too long. Will all this add up to success? Who knows.
Rondo won't be the face of the franchise. The Celtics will miss the playoffs and begin to suck, get some draft picks and half to rebuild.
I'd hope for Celtics fans sake that he isn't the face of the franchise by then. If he is, they will probably be around a 20 win team.
Are you high? Rondo's the 2nd most valuable player on the Celtics right now, and we're a title contender. He's one of the better facilitators and passers in the game already. He makes this offense go. He's also an amazing rebounder for someone of his size and position, and his rock-solid defense improves every year. Not to mention that an elite point guard is the probably the most helpful asset an NBA team can have when it is rebuilding. Rondo's a winner, and the Celtics will be a winner as long they can put some half-useful pieces around him for the future.
It's pretty far from now, but if the Celtics find a way to hold onto Rondo they will have a nice building block. I'm not sold on the other guys: Powe, Big Baby, Tony Allen, etc.
Maybe 7 years is too exact. I meant to say when Pierce, Allen, and KG are all retired who would be the new stars. It seems that Rondo, Perk, and possibly Powe would be the most logical choices.
Powe will be a good role player, same with Perkins. Rondo will be good, as well. I don't see any of the current players being people to build around though.
+1. Rondon will be a one maybe two time all-star the rest will be solid role players/starters but nothing you'd win more than a playoff series with. That said, with KG/Paul and Allen gone, you suddenly have 50+ mill in cap space available so there will be plenty of opportunities for upgrades
yup. They'll have some nice pieces...but none of them are players to really build your team around. It'll depend what they can do with the space they'll have from three big contracts being gone.
