Today Dwight Jaynes (via Bald Face truth) said that the Blazers had a deal in place for Kirk at the deadline that would have sent Steve Blake for Kirk.

KP, according to Dwight, decided to stay with Steve. They turned away from the deal then, why would KP revive it now?

You can make a case that he didn't want to mess with the chemistry but if he thinks Kirk is an upgrade over Blake he would have done it at the deadline, IMO.

You Deng fans need to put the kool-aid down.

    $10,370,425

    $11,355,850

    $12,341,275

    $13,326,700

    $14,312,125

Combine that he's softer than Perez Hilton at the Playboy mansion, spending this kind of money on him is a horrible idea.

I can see Chicago giddy at the thought of dumping this contract, though.

maybe after the playoffs he realized the team would be better off with hinrich? it's not like there haven't been games played between the deadline and now.

I'm sure Kirk Hinrich is probably a Blazers target, but it remains iffy as to whether the Bulls are willing to trade him in a salary dump. Forman said last night that they intend to bring Hinrich back next season.

Why would he EVER say they were going to trade him?

"Yeah, we're probably going to trade him next Wednesday."

Paxson always mentioned how they might trade Kirk. Not explicitly, but in a way that made you know who he was talking about. Forman went out on the forefront and said they probably aren't going to trade Kirk.

Probably would only be in a talent upgrade, not for expirings at this point.

But he explicitly said that they plan on having Kirk on the opening day roster, something Paxson would never say.

For the most part. But he was waffling on whether they would bring back Gordon now.

That jerk Reinsdork better not have chosen the Keebler Elf over Gordon.

I don't think Reinsdorf has anything to do with the Bulls management besides consulting these days.

Kirk is not THAT much better than Steve Blake.
    AND....he is expensive.
AND.....he is more of a combo guard than a point guard.

It makes no since to burn up your extra cap money on Hinrich. If it did, the deal would already have been done.
The only way a deal for Hinrich goes down is if a number of other players are involved. I don't see the Blazers
making a move JUST to get Kurt. There will have to be someone else included that is the real target.

Never trust what a GM says. Do you expect him to say "Guh..fuck that. We're trading that bum"

The time it happened ("I'd trade Damon for a chair") totally blew up in that GM's face. Or President, whatever Patterson was at the time.

Kirk is a better player than Blake...PERIOD. Blake had a career year, I don't expect that much from him. If we don't trade for Kirk we're going to retain both Blake and Outlaw anyway, so we're not burning any extra cap room.

Not saying Hinrich isn't better. I am saying he isn't a big enough improvement to justify the expenditure. Better off spending that money elsewhere.

That's the thing we'd be spending it on Blake and Outlaw. I'd rather have Hinrich who is a decent upgrade over both those players.

That is an assumption on your part.
