I'm not saying Bass isn't better than either of them, but I am apprehensive to see the Blazers use much of their cap space on a one-position back-up PF who has never played more than 20 mpg. I can't see Bass taking less than $5 million/per over 4-5 years, and I don't think he improves the team tremendously for the cap space lost. I'm even more apprehensive considering the still-crumbling economy and some of the teams who will be over the cap next year. Waiting on a lop-sided trade is much more desirable to me in what is increasingly going to be a buyer's market. I'd be willing to take the risk of losing Brandon Bass if it means keeping cap space into next season.
I can see that perspective. I'd just rather add Bass and Miller with our space and move forward, rather than holding out for a mid-season trade that will (a) disrupt the team before the playoffs, and (b) might never happen. Ed O.
I am perfectly happy with Outlaw, as he is, for a backup SF, for another 6 years. What more do you want from a role player? We just cannot give him the ball in the playoffs at the end of games lol But really, Outlaw is a solid role playing backup.
I suppose you are right. Maybe if he was played as a role player by the coach I would feel differently about him. Same with Blake
Yes a solid role playing backup.. I dont think Outlaw is as good as many defenders say he is.. but not as bad as anti Outlaw's say.. I think it is made to a bigger deal cause he is a solid role playing backup... yet he plays starters minutes (for this team). Obviously he would have less bone headed mistakes if he was on the court less. So the longer he is out there, the dumber he looks I guess.
Holy cow. I am going to save this thread lol. I made a post that Wheeler AND MM agreed with me on!!!!!!!!!!! Oh happy day!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a message in with David's Lee agent and he's supposed to get back to me today so hopefully I get an update on Lee to Portland as well.
Haha, I started writing for S2 before any other site (back when it was JustBBall). That was my first ever gig.
I do like Bass, but with getting Pendergraph and Cunningham, it's not as dire to find a back up power forward now. I'd much rather hold out for David Lee or Paul Milsap. This is a more advantageous way of improving our team, as then Joel could be moved to improve us at the 3 or the 1.
