Valid points. I'm just excited to see what he does with competent teammates. Does he focus on passing first and just take what shots the defense gives him? Does he continue to take really difficult shots knowing he can make them? He'll probably always be a scorer but dude seems to have a crazy bball mind, hopefully he'll understand when he needs to score and when he needs to facilitate for others.
There hasn't been a great shooter that also became a team leader, the closest thing was probably Mike Bibby. I do see the point that Billups and a few other players have a post game which Curry obviously doesn't have, he is more like a scorer, i.e. a volume shooter/slasher combo right now. But Monta is probably worse at the PG since he's more of a slasher/finisher who doesn't create much room or opportunities for his teammates on his drives. At least Curry is a good passer even if his mentality isn't quite there, he also can space the floor better simply with the threat of scoring by himself from long range, and he's able to do it with just picks to get enough separation, which allows him to handle the ball while he's doing this, unlike another player who would have to pick and roll, thus losing the control and making someone else be the distributor.
I was going to say Mike Bibby or Chauncey Billups, but you beat me to it. How about Jason Kidd? At least, from 3-pt land which is probably a weird thing to say. Could Reggie Miller play some point?
Bibby, there you go. About the same height, and if Curry puts on 10-15 lbs, about the same build. If he turns out to be that type of general, I'll be elated. Good Call Zhone.
