Not sure about Nate, but I'm quite certain I'd be happier if instead of KP I was GM. The rest of you, maybe not quite so happy. barfo
KP is still the best GM in the league. Just because one writer and one unnamed GM bitched that he his cocky doesn't mean he sucks and we should get rid of him. Christ. Nate is alright, could be better. I think he's got a different kind of philosophy that most people aren't used to. We just don't know if it's as effective as other different coaching style, like 7 seconds or less. Considering he took the youngest playing rotation in the league to 54 wins in the west and HCA tells me it works, whatever it is. All you who are calling for his head for daring to start Blake and Pryzbilla, just think about what he did with Nic Batum last year. It doesn't matter who starts, it matters who finishes. Also: I remember an article last year, I think, about how we were the most efficient team coming out of timeouts. That's all I have to say to those people who say Nate doesn't know how to coach in game. He may not run many plays, but he knows how to set up his guys.
Yes happy with KP Not that happy with McMillian. I don't think he runs an offense that well, compared to some other coaches. I'd rather have Adleman or Phil Jackson
Yes - So far. Nate up to this point has been pretty good and has taught the team well. I am not a big fan of his to date for in-game decisions and rotation decisions, but overall he has been good. From here on out, we need a little less of a teacher and more X's and O's, and I don't know if Nate will be able to do this. One good thing about Nate is he has grown a lot also and does seem to learn over time. He might not adapt as quickly as I would like, but he does not seem to be overly set in his ways. If he continues to learn from his mistakes and gets another ast. coach with some X's and O's experience, he could be very good in the future. KP - Yes To tell the truth, I think the team really needs more and better ast. coaching. That would prove more valuable than most other possible moves that could be made.
Regarding Nate - I really think we need to wait and see what he can do with a real PG. The next two years should be very, very interesting.
KP - yes, despite missteps. Nate - no. The team has outgrown him, as will become painfully obvious this year, if he fails to adjust the offense around the talent he has. iWatas
Nate: I'm ambivalent. Overall, I'm satisfied with the job Nate has done. I know I don't know better than Nate. The idea is simply absurd. The man has been immersed in the highest level of basketball for several decades. Me: Not so much. But I still disagree with him about certain decisions he's made and about certain tendencies he's shown. I would replace Nate with Van Gundy for this team, in a heart beat. I believe, based on things I've heard Van Gundy say last season about our players, and insights into his philosophy and tactics, that he would get more out of our guys at this stage of the team's evolution. They'd be more fun to watch, too. KP: More than satisfied. The highest rating possible. (Even though I wish he'd traded RLEC.)
1. Hell yes. http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindblazersbeat/2009/07/blazers_mcmillan_wants_to_earn.html http://www.blazersedge.com/2009/7/21/957063/nate-mcmillan-returns-to-team-usa 2. Hell yes.
1. Yes 2. Yes Both have made mistakes but the facts are in life. people make mistakes. Even when KP made mistakes, I think his intentions were good, which is more important to me as a GM. I know it is frustrating for fans at times (including myself) but as long as folks learn from history and move forward, I am good with it.
I honestly don't know how anyone could complain about either. So, yes and yes. Their results are inarguable. People complain just to complain. It's become the American way!
Fine with Nate: Yes, because I don't see another obtainable option out there that is better. Fine with KP: Yes, for the same reason as Nate. KP did a great job until this this year where he stumbled somewhat.
1) I'm content with Nate. I don't see a better choice out there, though there are times I wonder about him. 2) Yes.
How could that be? The Blazers alienated their star player, and the team is on the way to Seattle. Isn't that what you were saying about a week ago?
