are you watching a game where durant is capable of being the primary ballhandler and creator for his team? because that games doesn't exist.

durant is a better shooter than tmac has ever been and he may start approaching tmac as a scorer as well, but he's nothing close to the creator tmac was. tmac at his peak had a usage percentage of 35.2 and was assisted on only 35% of his baskets. durant last year had a usage rate of 28.3 and was assisted on 57% of his baskets.

really all it takes is watching them play, but the stats back it up as well. durant plays nothing like tmac.

KP believes in him, for now, but we all know that since he is not going to extend LMA, Nate will play him as a PF next to Joel - and we all know that KP hates power forwards. So - KP for now, not in the future!!!! ;)

Greg is just too talented at his size to be a bust. The only thing I see that would derail his career is continual flukey type injuries. He already proved to be a force defensively when he can stay on the floor, and it'll just be a matter of time and feeling comfortable on the floor on offense before he gets into the 15-18 ppg range.

I believe in him. He shows shades of greatness with the lil things he does on the court. Nate may or may not be the guy to get this guy where he needs to be for this team to win titles.

I can think of a couple other coaches that would really help him and in the end would get the most out of Greg. Meaning, if there is anything there. They will get it out of him.

    Pop is one of them.

My worry about Greg has always been one of a mental nature vs talent and skill. I think this kid can get really down and stop loving this game in a hurry if he doesn't dominate. He has all the raw materials to be an amazing talent, but does he have the mental toughness to be a star? To date, I'd say no!

I would seriously consider giving my left arm to get Poppovich in Portland. Easily a kidney. I like Nate OK (less then KP), but Pop would take us right to the ring like THIS SEASON. Ok 2011 at the latest but it would be a virtual lock health permitting. Back in reality though San Antonio would never let him go? When is his contract up again? Poppovich...:sigh:

IMHO Poppovich is the best coach in the NBA.

EDIT: Totally forgot to answer OP's question. People talk about having Oden's back? He has a life size tattoo of me on his back. GO = DPOY by 2012 at the latest

That was just a trap so he could start another thread that can turn into KP is the worst GM in the history of the NBA.

You and me both. Popps contract with the Spurs I think is good until 2011.

Here is the thing with him. If he got this roster. And he is able to turn Oden into something everyone had Greg projected at coming out of the draft. I could see Popp meeting or exceeding the total amount of titles that is owned and held as record by Phil Jackson.

Why? His system with the right guys is downright lethal. Go back to 1999 with David and Tim. That defense was STIFLING. Think about that same defense with Greg.

But even he doesn't get Greg where everybody had him depicted at when first coming out of the draft. He will still win a title or two with this roster. And Greg will be productive. And we will not have to worry about saying it was all for not with Greg

KP seems to be a pretty good salesman. I'd run if I saw him coming toward me on a used car lot. Maybe he can sell Pop on the prospect of a handful of rings with this Portland roster. But I just don't see Pop leaving S.A. :sigh:

Timmy is got to retire sometime. Popp and Kp have a hirstory from the University of Kansas and from the Spurs. From what I heard, Popp mentored and told KP that GO was the rigth choice out of the two of Durant and he.

Someone else stated not to long ago that Gregg owns a home in McMinnville that is he is a part owner of a winery out there. Dont know if that is true or not.
