I love how the ratio of Agnostics and Atheists vs everyone else has slowly declined in the vote tally the longer people debate the definition of Atheism and Agnosticism. "Crap, I thought I was agnostic, but now I'm not sure. Maybe I'm atheist. Fuck it. I'll check Catholic. That's what Mom thinks I am."
other than your obsession with semantics people don't base their views on this subject on history, so what she knew about it is irrelevant.
So you're not an atheist in its truest sense. Why is that so hard for you to come to terms with? It isn't "semantics", it's a literal term.
yes i am. i just don't fit your impractical restrictive defninition, and almost nobody else would either. why is it so hard for you to come to terms with the fact that most of the world doesn't agree with or find any practical use for your definition?
point being, most atheist seem to concentrate their attack on Christianity and Catholicism. Seems to me more of a personal problem with that religion than others. You won't see Bill Mahar go and attack Jews like he does christianity. He'd get absolutely fucked up. Maybe its because Christians don't fight back?
Maybe it's because there's a much much higher percentage of Christians in America, which I am guessing is predominantly his viewing audience. It's like the viruses on Mac computers, I would guess. Why attack the much smaller ones?
No. Because you'll get labeled as an anti-semite if you attack jews and will have a fatwah if you attack muslims.
has nothing to do with bias. atheists concentrate on what they see as dangerous, which currently is islamic extremism throughout the world, and christian fundamentalist dogma affecting government policy here in the US. if a jew was lobbying for teaching creationism in science classes or flying a plane into a building i'm sure bill maher would have something to say about it.
the "new" atheist authors - dawkins, harris, etc. attack islam way more than they specifically target christianity.
Maher has gone after fundamentalist Islam quite a bit on his show. Fundamentalist Judaism is largely concentrated in Israel and hasn't really made itself relevant beyond those borders.
I base my thoughts on Bill Mahar from when he was still on ABC. haven't watched him since really since I don't get HBO
Thank goodness "jewish" isn't an option on the poll. Maybe they are incorporated as "other Christian."
