Myself I see a lot of holes that will prevent us from going deep into the playoffs.

Brandon Roy is going to be burned out by the playoffs if he's guarding these SF's the entire year.

    Steve Blake is a starter.

Greg Oden is still a roller coaster when it comes to production.

    Martell Webster is atrocious. ATROCIOUS

Brandon Roy, Rudy Fernandez, Steve Blake all play out of position.

I'm with ya! I find myself spending more and more time away from here. When I do visit, I am in the OT section more now due to all the garbage here in the main area.

Well, and you forgot our offensive sets are so damn predictable it's easy to take B-Roy out of the picture when other people aren't moving.

Edit: And you make a good point about B-Roy being spent by Playoffs. I agree..... I wish we could keep Webs @ the 3

What young player has really developed under Nate McMillan other than Brandon and LaMarcus?

Bayless is a wasted talent so far. Jason Terry nailed it when he was talking about Rodrigue Beaubois and how he's only going to get better because he's getting in-game experience instead of wasting away on the bench. Right now, Rodrigue Beaubois is already a better NBA player than Bayless.

Rudy Fernandez doesn't have a defined role. He's playing PG/SG/SF. They are doing anything to get him his 25 min/per but are doing it by playing him out of position. He's a SG. Period.

Channing Frye said the main reason for his early success in Phoenix is the coach keeps it simple and free flowing. "basketball is a simple game"

The Blazers don't look improved from last season and the chemistry is the worst it's been since before Brandon was drafted.

Yeah, I've always thought the same thing about the playing time and Bayless. Guys need PT to succeed. You don't get better riding the pine and playing in practice, unfortunately for our guys, we have the "Sarge", who doesn't seem to experiment as much, too worried about turnovers I guess.

On one hand (short term success), I'd love to be able to go to the play offs (as we should, we're a good team)

But on the other (long term success), you can't deny that we have talent, just wasting away on the bench, that could potentially once unlocked, help us out immensely. (bayless/rudy)

The defense doesn't look better to you? I guess Defense doesn't win championships?

I would add Batum to that list of young Players that developed nicely, and Oden is 10 times better than he looked during summer league his rookie year. So............lets see 4/5 of our future starting line-up.

Whether you are a Outlaw fan or not....he has gotten better every year he has been with the team.

I don't know if I can go more than +1 on this thing. It just keeps saying tilt.

I actually had to miss the 2nd half of the game last night. I come on here this morning I was was positive (from reading the titles) we lost.

I don't mind the complaining about a team that has obvious flaws and holes and a coach who may not have the mind/skills/vision to deal with them. But what I'm not liking is the personal sniping on here. The "learn the game then post" stuff. The "you are an idiot" stuff... Certain posters just picking fights and parsing the language someone used rather than seeing the main point a post was trying to make. Hell, we even had a situation last month where someone was taunted for having a serious medical condition. What the hell?!!

Surely there has to be a way of talking about this team's warts (and substantial success) without being dickish about it and taking every contrary opinion personally.

Thats why I rarely post in threads about the blazers unless its during a game thread. I can only hear Blake sucks and Nate sucks so many times. It's really a broken record around here. I come on here to talk blazers with people because being stuck in Minneapolis and Fargo, there isnt many blazer fans. But surprisingly people here are more positive about the blazers then the people on here are. How friked up is that, that I can have a more positive conversation about the blazers with someone Fargo then I can with someone on this board lol.

The only way that positivity is going to prevail is for people to post positive thoughts. Don't be discouraged that there is a minority of people here who are going to be negative no matter what. Realize that MOST of us here are happy with the 9-4 start and are encouraged by the direction of the franchise...

    Ditto, Chris.

It's hard to come away from reading this forum and be a better mood than when you got here......

I love the team and the game of basketball, but this fanbase - even if it is the vocal minority...., just does my head in sometimes.

I bet there are 24 or so other NBA cities that would kill to have our squad!

Actually this should be titled "Blazers win and some guy tries to accuse Blazer fans of being crazy, when they are really just passionate for their team.".:tsktsk:

I always wondered what this squad's effect or power in the league would be with coaches like Jackson, Pops, Brown or Adelman running it. Would they be much stronger now? Would Oden's development be further along? Would Roy be able to play off the ball more comfortably? Honestly, we just don't know.
