Nets posters and mods wanted that subforum and they got it.

It's irrelevant what Ghoti wants, his idea of what S2 should be could never be enforced without confronting posters about where they're posting what they want to post. It's the opposite of radical trust, and I don't think anyone wants their their threads moved from where they chose to make them.

The ultimate problem was what happened when they couldn't have their way about it. They have their own little site now, good for them.

yes, I'm here. Is that a problem for you? In fact, Ghoti was just here, too, and explained why he no longer posts on the site, but his explanation was deleted. Go figure. So much for--what was that phrase? Oh yes, "radical trust."

Damn, someone deleted ghoti's post? That's pretty lame.

Could you give a synopsis on what Ghoti had to say. or if ghoti reads this, could you pm, I'm interested.

It's unfortunate, because he was one of the many old quality posters that left/stopped posting.

BTW dumpy, if you had the avatar of the head mashing into the keyboard, I really hated that av. lol

That avatar is exactly the way I feel right now, with the way the old Nets forum that existed here is being portrayed. We initially came here from BBB.net, by the way, essentially for the same reason you did, but just a year or so beforehand.

Incidentally, for some reason I refer some of our posters here from time to time, if I think they prefer the posting style here. Why I do so, when we are subjected to these sorts of attacks, is beyond me.

    I'll let Ghoti know.

Btw, I was known as Lavalamp prior to DennisRodman, but I got locked out of it, so I made a new acct.

Personally I didn't like you guys having a Nets OT forum, however most of you guys were active in the community and in the regular OT forum, and most Nets fans used the regular OT forum far more frequently than the Nets OT forum anyway.

I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I enjoy interacting with most of the people in the Blazers board, which is why I come back from time to time, until a few posters make me feel unwelcome, and I leave. The only concern we had that impacted the Blazer activity had nothing to do with you, but decisions that the admins made to accommodate you. Contrary to what was written here, threads that were made in the Nets forum were actively moved to other forums around the board, to "force" the Nets fans to interact with the rest of the site. [it worked pretty well; the Nets posters soon became mods across all forums, including forums for non-basketball portions of the site like soccer] I remember, specifically, that there was concern that new posters would come to the site and look at the "new posts" lists and only see activity in the Nets forum. But there is obviously a double standard at play here, and that was frustrating to some people. For instance, I enjoyed going to the "religion and politics" forum, but that is now nonexistent, and has been taken over by the Blazers OT forum--so there is no so-called "neutral ground" when posters from other parts of the site want to comment on those sorts of issues. You can decide for yourself whether this is a good thing or not.

But, to be clear, that had nothing to do why we left. We left because our friends got banned. And, as Ghoti might say, the pointless drama.

Incidentally, the Nets OT forum was used primarily for just silly little things or references to New Jersey, or personal questions that people had for their on-line friends. It was never as robust as the Blazers OT forum.

He's saying that with revisionist history, only one side is being told, and it doesn't properly represent what happened.

    Therefore making them look bad.

I just looked at the user database and there's TWO users named Lavalamp. I am quite positive you are locked out because of that.

Both accounts were made a day apart using very similar email addresses (one yahoo, one hotmail). Certainly an artifact of the move from IPB to VB3; IPB allowed you to set your own display name separate from your login name.

We've had a couple other users with the same issue, but they PMed me and I fixed it for them.

Let me just add that I'm not unhappy with the way things turned out . . . but I get annoyed when the former Nets board here gets disparaged, and I'm here now to defend my friends. It would be a simple thing for the admins here to simply say something along the lines of, "we made mistakes with regard to our treatment of the Nets community, but we've tried to fix them and are more attuned to the needs of the Blazer community as a result." Instead, we get a cock-and-bull story about how "we couldn't get what we wanted" or some such nonsense, probably because certain people here felt that no one from the former Nets community was here to defend themselves.

I'd suggest that when 200 or so posters make a mass exodus from a discussion board, the admins of the board can't be blameless. The fact that the admins here want you to believe so should raise some red flags. That, in fact, is the entire premise of this thread: The Blazer community left bbb.net (or whatever it is called these days), and the admins there want you to believe that they were blameless in what went down, and you disagree with that assessment. Sounds familiar to me. If there was, in fact, "radical trust," we'd be welcomed back. I feel anything but welcome right now.

We regret that the Nets fans left the site, no doubt about it. But it's more technical than you let on.

I'm told you have more than a passing interest in NetsDaily. The forum link on that site drove a ton of traffic and new users to S2. You conspired to open your own Nets-only forum there and had the link changed to point there. That the Nets forum would eventually move there was a done deal for that reason only.

Yet you're posting here, and are allowed to post here, and your posts are unedited.

I can find no threads in the nets forum that have been moved as you claim. There'd be a big bold MOVED next to the thread still in the Nets forum for moved threads. The only ones I know of are OT ones that were moved into the OT forum when it was created.

Radical trust can be abused. If we trust people to have guns and they start shooting at us, what are we supposed to do? Three people were banned after months of "shooting at us" and numerous PMs and IM conversations pleading with them to be good citizens of the boards. The last straws for them were the "warm" welcome they gave these fine Blazers fans, particularly threads ridiculing certain posters.

The guys who became Blazers mods here saw what was going on and were stunned that we put up with it as long as we did.

I don't expect you to understand these things, because you were never staff here and only saw one side of the story. While I freely admit there are two sides to every story, you seem to think our side is revisionist history or something.

If Nets posters want to post here, they're welcome and always have been. If they want to go post over at the NetsDaily forum, I've got no issues with that.

As far as these fine Blazers posters go, they can judge for themselves how this board has been run and how they've been treated. I never wanted the Nets board/fans to be treated any differently; take that for what it's worth.
