Hmmm, can't make a complete list right now but 2 that immediately come to mind that I've listened the shit out of is Julian Casablancas-11th Dimension, Jay-Z- Blueprint 3.
xD Mara and Me makes me happy. The first line is brilliantly awesome. Max is pretty crazy, and awesome.
So, I have an album to add to my list, and the album that is quite possibly my favorite album of the year. 30 Seconds To Mars - This Is War The album, in my book, is by far the bands best work. The album is brilliant, through a few listens, I don't think it has a bad song. The other thing to note is that the album doesn't really have a mainstream sounding song like The Kill, From Yesterday, or Attack like their last album did, and it might be a good thing. Overall, fantastic album, and could very well be my favorite album of the year.
Now, I just listened to Kings and Queens from said album above, I'm hoping the rest of the album isn't like this because it is almost attempting to be something it is not. It wants to be an epic, but falls right on it's face, big time. Rest of album will get a listen tomorrow.
Bitch, bumped my thread. Has anyone brought up Tiesto's new album? Saosin had a pretty good album come out this year too.
Saosin was terrible too, bottom 10 album of the year, a massive step back for them. Haven't heard Tiesto cause I'm not a fan.
Well I guess I never actually listened to the album, just "Changing" & "Keep Me a Secret". Those 2 songs were good.
So I did listen to the full 30 seconds to mars album, and it is a major step down for the previous works. The rest of the album suffers from tries too hard syndrome, it tries to be something its not. It seems to want to genre cross, but sometime to cross, you need to be great at what you have, something 30 seconds to mars has potential to do, but seems to have lost it. Not only is this a step back, but the Kanye West collab was awful as well, but i assume it's be all over the radio within a month. This and Killswitch Engage are without a doubt the biggest busts for 2009, except at least Killswitch had a track worth listening to.
Chidos are supposed to have a new album, but I think it's a break-off album without their lead singer. Or maybe it's an album with the lead singer's new band, I don't know. My friend showed me a couple of songs and it wasn't really all that... The lead singer's voice really gets to me.
Favorite albums from 2009 were: Green Day - 21st Century Breakdown Kid Cudi - Man On the Moon: The End of Day Lady Gaga - The Fame Monster LMFAO - Party Rock Weezer - Raditude Honorable Mention: Asher Roth - Asleep In the Bread Aisle Daughtry - Leave This Town Eminem - Relapse Muse - The Resistance Wale - Attention Deficit Disappointments: Paramore - Brand New Eyes Shakira - She Wolf Horrible: Rob thomas - Cradlesong
