You can listen to The Gorillaz entire new album on NPR. Pretty chilled.

There have always been two main divisions of electronic music to me. There's the type of ambient electronic music that I'll listen to when I'm trying to unwind, like when I post on s2 (not very ambient, but that kind of music ranges from Air to Royksopp), and then there's the electronic music that is more appropriate for active situations.

Without getting into the nuanaces of what makes Deadmau5 (house) different from Bassnectar (dubstep), all of the more aggressive styles of electronic music are fitting for getting pumped up (ie: before you play basketball, work out, or go out to a club), but spare for a song here or there, I can't sit here and listen to that sort of music while posting on a message board.

I've also seen Tiesto, Justice, LCD Soundsystem, Deadmau5 twice, Bassnectar four times since '08 at Rothbury, and several other less notable electronic acts live, and I've yet to have a bad experience, but those acts are meant to be enjoyed more in a live setting. I could go into detail about how the environment has changed since the mid-00's, but regardless, that sort of music is great to enjoy live.

Sitting down and posting on s2 though, would you rather listen to that style of electronica or something more ambient. Daft Punk and Justice seem to tread the line, given the songs, but in general, who wouldn't rather listen to Royksopp?

    Anyway,...

I'd like to see this thread get going again. I remember that I actually learned about a lot great music that I hadn't heard of before through JBB/s2. In particular, I remember the poster M Two, as off his rocker as he was, turned me on to Sigur Ros.

I'm personally into classic rock, early 90's hip hop, alternative, funk, soul/old r&b, grunge, and southern hip-hop from the early 00's, but my tastes are really even more all over the board than that. I feel like every music has it's place. I listen to a lot of modern hip hop, electronica, and even a lot of modern country, given the situations.

I'd like to get a dialogue about music going on the s2 forums.

what was your username on JBB?

I like indie folk, baroque pop, progressive rock, experimental rock, blue-eyed soul, crooner music, classical, and hip hop (more than I have myself believe). I mean, I pretty much listen to anything, but this is the type of music I would lean to after classes and my internship.

    Loved the videos, good music

I too am into classic rock and actually like some 90's hip hop as well.

Listen to modern country, although some purist would say it is rock or pop and they are right. Songs today would be considered rock back in the 60's and 70's

I like good music. Some metal as well. To me if it's good, it's good.
