MAggette is also intriguing yes. As a Sub he averaged 15.9 ppg in 25 MPG. He could play backup 2 and 3 and have a nice rotation there. With Roy playing probably 38 MPG and Batum hopefully 30 MPG.. that would give Maggette a good 28MPG
I watched a few clips of the kid on youtube after I posted the link above ... you might be right about the Ammo comparisons, he didn't look especially mobile and kind of has a plodding gait -- he'll probably get eaten alive by the more active and athletic 3s in the NBA. Oh well, I was just curious, since I hadn't heard much about him.
I like the idea of soldifying the front court. Jarvis Varnado or Gani Lawal would be solid picks where we'll be drafting. Both are high-energy, both can rebound, and we woudn't need offense from them off the bench.

Even if we could get Paul (no chance IMO), would we really want another guy with injury issues? I'd like to aim for a guy who maybe isn't as good of a player as Paul stastically speaking, but is a solid 75-80 game a year guy. We need more Ironmen and less Frail Blazers...
My opinion(s) on the subject is/are still being formed. That said, Corey fucking Maggette can stay (FAR!!!) away from this team! I've been a HUGE supporter of Kevin Pritchard--and the moves he's made, during his time here--but if he brings in that fucking turd, Maggette, I just might have to change my tune!
based on what? Not being much of a passer? That wouldnt be his role here. I'm not calling you out or anything, I'm wondering if there was stuff I hadnt heard of.
Maggette is a helluva player; he can kick cats, jaywalk, pull tags off of mattresses and generally be a prick all he likes as long as he would make the Blazers better -- to that end I don't think he actually would make the Blazers better because he really doesn't shoot well from distance and he's not exactly world renowned for playing hard on defense or making his teammates better. Ultimately, this team needs another attacking guard/wing who can't shoot like it needs another injury prone center.
yeah I am thinking about it.. and Collison could be a scorer AND PGOTF all at once. Can we make it happen!?
Honestly, I just absolutely mega-loathe the shit-bird "brand" of basketball that the guy plays (a.k.a. "me-first," stat-inflating, & not conducive to winning basketball games). Add in the fact that he did his signature "Bowling Ball" maneuver and injured Greg Oden, and I just can't honestly think of anything positive to say about the guy (in terms of basketball). Obviously, I don't "know him" or anything, and I'm sure he's a good enough guy as a person/individual, but his game on the court has to be one of the ugliest I've ever seen in my days of watching hoops.
Maggette's game is as despised now as Crawford's was a season ago--only difference is that Crawford is a chucker from range, whereas Maggette is a ballhog who attacks the rim. We've said many times that we need someone on our bench who (a) can score consistently, and (b) can get his own shot. ME-ggette fits that description to a tee. As long as it is made very clear to him that he is not, can not, and never will be "the man" here, and he accepts that role, I think he could definitely have value here.
I've long questioned his mental makeup, but for what you mention, I don't really think he'd have a problem with it. I mean, he's on a garbage team in GS, and he has seemed fine all season with coming off the bench. He's had to play PF a good chunk of the season. I think if he wanted to complain, he has a valid one, and he hasn't. He might not be a great shooter, but he is a great SCORER. Getting to the basket, and creating scoring opportunities for himself. He's the one dimensional player Outlaw is but, instead of settling for off balance 20 footers, he gets into the paint.
If he enters, I like a few international players. Kevin Seraphin is one of the more intriguing bigs in Europe -- A 6'10" 260lb. PF/C -nbadraft.net I also like Donatas Motiejunas. A pure shooter at 7'1.5" Though, we'd most definitely have to trade into the high-mid lotto for him. I liked Giorgi Shermadini but he's not entering in this years draft according to DX.
And, I added Harangody as an afterthought. You completely ignored the first two players in my post. Cunningham isn't a PF, Pendergraph probably isn't a legitimate back-up PF because he does nothing exceptional ... Lawal or Varnado intrigue me. Varnado is like a mini-Camby, and Varnado has a decent body and can rebound.
