It will be fun to see how much it will fluctuates this 2010 season. I don't think we will surpass the 15,418 on opening day but it would be nice to see a higher average than last year.

Heres 2009 highest attendance, back in Dec 11. The date for this photo (oregonlive) however seems wrong by me. I think he uploaded it from another game.

The 3-3 tie vs Vancouver Whitecaps (playoffs) on October 4, 2009 at PGE park had a record of 14,283 people at the game.

What is the stadium's maximum capacity?

^^There are just under 20,000 seats, but the stadiums concourse isn't big enough to really handle that many people comfortably, so they cap tickets sold to between 16,000 and 15,000.

Its too bad they couldn't push the concourse out towards the sidewalk because theres not enough room unless they made the concession stands and bathrooms smaller. The other alternative is making a second level concourse for the 200 level tickets but then you have the risk of drunk people falling down stairs, etc.

When they build the new addition on the morrison side the crowd will be more dispersed throughout the park and the attendance could be almost capped with the seats that are available.

Arsenal's record is around 60,000, no big deal.

Sounder attendance never reached the Timbers average attendance in the USL-1 while they were in the same league together.
Such as this example back in 2007 with 4 games into the season.

Heres another example of Portlands fan base bigger than Seattle while they were both in the USL-1

Yeah, I don't really get it either. I think for the US Open Cup match vs. Seattle they had enough notice to plan for overflow crowds, but not for the 2010 opener. And from what I understand they also don't differentiate between GA and wheel chair tickets and they just sold all of the GA tickets for the first game. Still don't get it.

Any projections as to how much this will rise with the move to MLS next season?

Wheels, I would have to look into that game attendance low at 5,800.
MLS league average was 16,675 in 2010. Lowest attendance was D.C United with an average of 14,532 where our backup goalkeeper Perkins came from.
From what I recall, the timbers had at least three 15,418 sellout games at PGE park last year.
Since the ticket office just announced over 10,000 season tickets sold they are planning to put a cap at 12,000 and the rest will be single game tickets.

I found two games Wheels. It was against St Louis as the Timbers won 3-0 on April 23, 2010. The attendance was 5,893.
The lowest one was against Vancouver Whitecaps as the Timbers won 2-1 on April 29, 2010. The attendance was 5,808.

DC had lower attendance then New England, Dallas, and Chivas USA? I'm not sure those numbers are right.
