I wouldn't mind landing Bosh. He gives us someone to build around once Kobe starts to decline, and he's just about to enter the prime of his career. The other slightly absurd thing I heard yesterday was Jalen Rose talking about the Lakers potentially being a player for LeBron James, obviously trading away Bynum, fillers and likely draft picks to get him.
Oh I completely agree. Even if he did become one, I'm not sure how I'd feel about it. I hate him with every inch of my being, and to have him on my favorite team...bleh. I mean, we'd probably be a lot better and would be set up for a potentially successful post-Kobe era, but still. I hate him.
I figure we'd be #1. I thought it was fucking random that he was at 1 or 2 of our home games this post season. I still don't see it happening, though. I don't think Toronto would take Bynum.
If they know Bosh is leaving they will take any value to replace him I say we do it if Bosh can be a solid defensive player, I am now convinced Gasol could play as a 5 especially with the lack of true centers in the league
It'll be interesting this off-season to see if we can get Bosh for Bynum. I'd do it if we could guarantee that Bosh-Gasol could mesh perfectly together. I'd be worried about their touches and then you factor in Odom who closes games out. Will he be okay riding the pine to end games?
^It should be. The best the Raptors can get back is Bynum out of any deal they can make with any team. Let it be done, as long as Bosh isn't in the East.
Phil wouldn't play that lineup, Odom would get torched on the perimeter by a guard and as long as Fish is on this team, he'll close games out.
Odom could still get 26-28 minutes spelling the front court. We need more perimeter depth in the off-season. Shannon, Farmar, and Fish could be gone so we need to figure that out.
This wont happen. Buss wants Phil to take a paycut, that's pretty extreme, and gives a strong indication about how he feels about their current expenditure situation. So unless the Lakers somehow get really creative with shedding salary, which they weren't able to do last off season, I can't imagine how Bosh can be a Laker. He is commanding the max, which is a decent amount more than Bynum is making ($4-5 million?, i'm guessing). Luxury tax that, and it's pushing $10 million (again, I'm guessing). No way Buss approves this. Ammo's $6 million is off the books, but I'm pretty sure that money stays off the books. Farmar expires, and Fish expires, but I think they will resign Brown (who has a player option) and give him a slight raise that will eat into Farmar's subtraction, and Fish will be resigned for a slight discount on his current deal, but Farmar's replacement will eat into that savings. If Mbenga and Powell are brought back (I hope they are), I imagine they get a very slight increase as well. I dont think there are cheaper alternatives out there anyway, at least not much cheaper. So in a nutshell, their payroll next year will be slightly higher than this year (due to escalating contracts), and that's without Bosh. The ONLY way I can see this happening is if Buss is counting on the new CBA to save him a ridiculous amount of money in the long run, so he's okay with committing to spending knowing the CBA will give him relief, but that's quite a longshot.
