Has anyone else ever seen this much talent get called up and make such an immediate impact as this years rookie class? The amount of talent that has been called up in the majors will impact the MLB for a long time.

    You have your hitters:
    Jason Heyward
    Mike Stanton
    Carlos Santana
    Justin Smoak
    Buster Posey
    David Freese
now Pedro Alvarez gets called up

    Pitchers:
    Stephen Strasburg
    John Ely
    Mike Lincoln
    Mike Leake

I'm sure I'm missing a ton of players right now. This is such a ridiculous amount of superstar potential that has been called up this year. Anyone else feel the same way?

    Yeah its been crazy.

Madison Bumgarner could get called up soon too. G's 5th starter, Wellemeyer is on the DL and the guy they called up to replace him got lit up. Now Lincecum just got hit by a linedrive on his pitching arm.

I don't know how you can't add Leake to the pitching equation. Sure, he doesn't have the ridiculous upside of the others, but the kid is 5-0, 2.69. That's an impact. Isn't Buster POsey up now, too?
EDIT: nm Posey. I see it now. Make that Wilson Ramos.

Yeah sorry I knew I was missing a couple of the big guys. Mike Leake is definitely one of them. He's been up the entire year(and isn't on my fantasy team like Ely and Freese ) I forget that he's a rookie. This is by far going to be one of the toughest ROY votes in history with everyone(minus Smoak on this list) tearing up the big league level. Tapata has some big time potential as well as a leadoff guy for the Pirates.

It's not just these guys, but look at other youngsters like Austin Jackson on the Tigers and Ike Davis from the Mets, then younger guys like Carlos Gonzalez and Drew Stubbs that played a bit last year to shed those rookie eligibility but are really in their first full season. How about Texas' closer Neftali Feliz, who has been pretty decent from what I've seen. Feliz was a late call-up last season but this year he's done a good job as a full-time closer.

Another rookie that recently has come up is Orioles pitcher Jake Arrieta, who beat the Yankees and Giants in his first 2 starts. Then looks at another rookie in the AL East, Daniel Nava hit a GS on his first major league pitch he's seen. Last guy I want to point out is Starlin Castro, who came up for the Cubs and has become their starting SS after a big 6 RBI debut.

Yeah this just shows how many good rookies are coming up this year if Austin Jackson and Ike Davis get lost in the mix. Then you got John Jaso with the Rays who's been very good behind the plate, plus Gaby Sanchez for the Marlins. If you look around the MLB there's a rookie making a pretty big impact on most of the teams, even the contenders.

Ha, A-Jax was in the Yankee farm club. :)

A-Jax isnt even the best Rookie on his team. Brennan Boesch is lighting it up for the Tigers.

The Tigers are in a youth movement right now, A-Jax, Boesh, Worth and Alex Avila.

One guy who hasn't been mentioned all that often is Cardinals SP Jamie Garcia. He is currently 3rd in baseball in ERA behind Ubaldo Jimenez and Josh Johnson. We'll see how long he can keep it up.
