The "Fuck Paul Allen" Thread Say what you want, but ultimately, this was Paul Allen's decision to fire KP. This is the "Fuck Paul Allen Thread". What, you're so insecure that you dump the GM that took us from the worst team in the league to one of the best? Hell, ever the best player in the NBA admitted he didn't want to see us in the playoffs! I'd say that's a solid turnaround. Stick to computers, geek, not NBA basketball. Like you know anything about sports, GEEK! Take the team to Seattle - I'd rather start over with a cellar dweller. I can't wait for KP to start over and win the championship.
Re: The "Fuck Paul Allen" Thread In various, I supposed it does. This is a picture I took recently while looking for vacation properties in Newport (OR). Right next to this sign? A porn store.
Re: The "Fuck Paul Allen" Thread BGF and I sharing a wave length this evening. F the rest of you!!!!!!!
KP was too good for his own good. His reputation around the league for "Pritch slaping" made it too difficult to make moves. Other GM's want no part in dealing with him. Sucks for him, but probably better for the Blazers long term.
Yes, Pritchard had a lot of difficulty trading two bench players for Marcus Camby. It was the fans who started the "Pritch Slap" bullshit, but I do agree with your larger point. The 2006 draft by Pritchard was one of the greatest draft days in NBA history for a guy who started the draft with 1 first-round pick. Stealing Nic Batum from San Antonio was another good move, although the Spurs did all right with George Hill as a consolation prize.
Yea, I'd much rather have a tightwad owner with no plan for improving like George Shinn. KP apologists amuse me.
Is PA becoming Jerry Jones without the championships? Maybe he's inspiring to become basketball's Al Davis?
So you are just fine with the timing of the firing? The firing itself doesn't piss me off even one tenth as much as doing so right before the draft. Allen knew he was going to fire KP for the last fucking month. Why wait? It smells to me like the actions of a spoiled child. Not exactly the kind of shit you want to see from the owner of your favorite team.
What's the difference between that and having a rich owner with no plan? Other than cap hell when things go horribly wrong, which is what happened to the Blazers last decade.
I'm pretty sure it was KP's camp (probably Legarrie) that leaked the firing to make the team look like they capped him before the draft. Either way, it was a pretty douchey way to go about things -- They should have handled this better.
Why? It's douchey to tell Pritchard that he's going to be fired, but that you want him to work through the draft. At that point, it becomes a PR battle. LaGarie won it. Pritchard will be seen as being needlessly fired, and Paul Allen comes out (yet again) as being a completely incompetent boob. Hey, I'm glad Paul spends millions for his play toy, but I'm beginning to wonder if it's worth it to have this irrational adolescent as an owner. Has Allen ever made good on the Portland-area creditors he fucked over when he declared bankruptcy?
