The Miami Herald's Dan LeBatard says he hears that a Bosh to Miami trade is "done." Rumors continue to swirl around Bosh and a lot still has to happen before we can know anything for sure, but LeBatard is pretty plugged into the South Florida sports scene so this is one rumor to pay some attention to. The reported sign-and-trade would net the Raptors Michael Beasley, Mario Chalmers and Joel Anthony in exchange for Bosh. The report says the trade is basically agreed to in principle, but don't go ordering those Miami/Bosh jerseys just yet. http://twitter.com/LeBatardShow
Getting Michael Beasley and Chalmers back is pretty good. Beasley was the #2 overall pick just a couple years ago and he could still be really good. Chalmers is a decent PG and could be a good backup for Jack if we trade Calderon. Getting some draft picks back would have been nice too but whatever as a fan I am pretty happy for the Raptors.
Why would you settle for Beasley though? You have cap space now that Bosh is gone I believe, GMs aren't dying to get him. Toronto can hold out for other deals. If not let him walk, Beasley isn't a high commodity right now.
Ok let me think of it this way, if the Raptors hold out they get a better sign and trade. If they don't Chris walks and they have cap room. Once Chris is gone they have a max contract available for free agents, next off-season. You'd sacrifice that for Beasley (who would still be on the books I believe)? This just isn't making complete sense to me. At least make them take Hedo.
on an unrelated note- i happen to think that german ladies are throughly underrated. as for the raptors- parlaying bosh for beasley, chalmers and a trade exception is a best case scenario. we can easily move that trade exception and beasley for a legit star like monta ellis afterwards.
lebatard is a douche and his bosh S&T announcement if untrue would cement his status as the preeminent douchebag in sports journalism
I'm not sure I buy this one, mainly because I don't think they'd trade him in the conference unless they're going to get something really good out of it. While the Miami package is appealing, to an extent, they could potentially get better.
Well he was definitely wrong about Bosh being traded since Toronto, up until Bosh's announcement, had no indication he was going to sign with the Heat--let alone a deal being in place.
How come we always get nothing for something. I don't see why not try and sway him to sign with a western conference team. I'm going to hate watching us play him 4 times a year.
If I were Toronto, I would let him walk. There's little incentive to trade him just to put more money in his pocket.
The problem has come from him making moves. Overpaying for Hedo. Taking Bargnani instead of Aldridge, Roy or Gay. Re-signing Bargs to that huge deal. Offering Kleiza $20MM. Massively overpaying for Amir Johnson. Colangelo needs a different strategy, not to "step the fuck up and make some moves".
