Looks like Ellison won the bid: 450 million.

I wonder how long it will be until he fires the whole front office.

My guess is Don Nelson hits the road ASAFP.

Larry Ellison is the man. He'll make a splash soon and aggressively. I think they'll end up with Yao Ming or something like that.

Maybe. But do you think he will match the marketing genius of the Houston Rockets, who had fortune cookie night the first night he played in Houston?:devilwink:

Yes, he will. He's already got "Chopsticks Night" planned for the first home game.

(I say this as an Asian so resist the urge to flame.)

If the team owners also owned the majority of the new arena in Vegas they would do extremely well financially. That arena would be booked 365 a days a year. Also naming rights and in arena signage would also go for huge money. I would bet an owner could get just as much per seat in Vegas as they could in the bay area and would have more revenue streams beyond basketball.

Mandalay is not Mandalay Bay FWIW.

Yeah, I see them moving closer to Silicon Valley, but that was only if Ellison bought the team.

I don't think the League would allow a market like the bay area to lose their long-time franchise.

The NBA would most likely sell an expansion team to Ellison. Then maybe we could finally get back into the pacific division when the league does a realignment.
