Now ESPN reporting Lakers NOT in mix for Chris Paul. Still, I wouldn't trade Bynum for him, despite injuries. Gasol would miss Bynum dearly.

Yeah like ESPN always tells the truth. For all we know Paul might stay in New Orleans or land some team that is NOT on his list. New Orleans decides if he gets traded or not. Although Bynum, Odom, who be the bst offer talent wise.

    Collison/Thorton/Odom/West/Bynum is a playoff team.

if we have the chance we HAVE to take it, Okafor is a serviceable starter who has missed like 1 game last 3 years
    Paul/Blake/Fisher
    Kobe/Barnes/Ebanks
    Artest/Barnes/
    Gasol/Caracter
    Okafor/Kurt Thomas?

    pretty solid line-up I think

I don't think we need him, either. He's too ball dominant to fit in with this group.

The Lakers need Paul if they want to compete with Miami. LA is soooo old.

I still think you would have an inferior team though, since you can't keep your length at the same time.

Wow that was a lazy response. NO YOU'RE THE DUMMY LULZ.

Lol, what is your reasoning? You lose Bynum/Odom in a trade (you have to take on Okafor and Paul), I'm assuming. There goes your length.

No one in LA can defend LeBron. Wade is better than Kobe, Gasol and Bosh go at it and there's no Andrew. Offensively LeBron is better than Paul, Wade is better than Kobe, Gasol-Bosh is close though. And then LA still has a weak PG rotation. Weak bench with the departure of Odom possibly? And you barely beat an older Boston team.

Or what if you don't trade for Paul?

    LeBron-Artest
    Wade-Kobe
    Bosh-Gasol
    Anthony/Haslem-Bynum/Odom
    Miller/Chalmers-Blake/Fisher

You lose two key matchups at the top. Fisher is also the worst starting PG in the league, you could lose that position if Chalmers plays at 09 level.

    Gasol vs Bosh recently:

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/201003090LAL.html

Pretty close like I excepted. Chris is in the prime of his career, Gasol is on the wrong side of 30. In his prime I think Pau would have the advantage but that's not exactly the case.

    Anthony-Haslem-Filler vs Bynum-Odom

You win here if Andrew is healthy. A wildcard since he's like Oden in that regard. However the Heat are up in two other positions with possible homecourt.. Looking at the 2010 Finals I don't think LA can win 4 games.

Lose Bynum and Odom, and you're losing to Celtics in the finals. (simple as that)

yeah, HK, i love ya man, but seriously whats up with the constant numbers game with you? miami have not even played ONE game together and your booking em for the the chip, when you've got a laker team here that has improved in the offseason after coming off back to back championship titles! where is your logic that we even need chris paul? i dont want him on the team, the guy is more injury prone than bynum is, and he's only my height, to me that spells a steep decline in his future. And hey, say for some odd reason lakers did end up with him, we aint trading both odom and bynum, and pau aint goin nowhere. we would ask for another big from NOH, so how do we lose length?

oh and if fisher is the worst starting pg in the league than how do you explain his exceptional performance in the playoffs. He lifted the team when we really really needed it, he was absolutely clutch. Even if his numbers arent up to your standards, you cant deny his value on this squad.

get off your highhorse and join the rest of us in realistic conversation, mate.

What an immature response, why don't you actually address my post instead of crying about it? You act like it is impossible to watch basketball games and use numbers? Maybe you're the "idiot"?

I can play that game, although I'd rather not.

You're right Akira, it would be disrespectful for me to troll the LA forum. I try not to when possible, I don't want to cause unnecessary commotion. I don't see the harm in talking about the future though.

How did you come to that conclusion? I'm curious. Bynum has never played more than 2000 minutes in a season, and has been injured in the last three post-seasons.

I think highly of the Heat because they were able to take paycuts and improve their core. I did not expect them to add Miller or Haslem. I think they are slight favorites at least.

    http://sportstwo.com/threads/165583-Hollinger-Projects-Heat-Win-68-Games

But really what matters is winning the title, they don't have to win 68 games nor will that be necessary probably.

Right I think you would get better with Paul. But not enough to beat the Heat. If you disagree just comment on my previous post.

Fisher's not a good defender. He did shoot better though.

If people stop the ad hominem attacks I'll get off the highhorse.

HK saying wade is better than kobe :O. We're comparing a player who isn't considered as a top 15, let alone top 10 player of all time, and a player who is constantly being compared to MJ himself and in top 3 of all time. This really isn't a discussion, and if you say Kobe is too old then well, he hasn't slowed down during recent years, he just doesen't have to score 30+ pts to win a game.

I'm trying to figure out how this LRMR agency works within league rules. This company is bank rolled by LeBron James, but how can he be an agent and play on a team at the same time? Seems like a ridiculous conflict of interest. What if LeBron hints that he doesn't want Paul to be traded to the Knicks or Magic?

Not to disrespect HK's opion but your analysis in a match-up against the lakers is really flawed. If your Analysis by saying "LeBron/Wade is Better than" doesn't represent bench play, injuries and chemistry....the Heat have put together a good team but I dont think it makes them better than the Celtics, Chicago, Mavs, Nuggets or Thunder.

Out of all the players; which one(s) do you consider defensive players: Arroyo, Chalmers, Howard, Ilgauskus, J. Jones and M. Miller?

Future flaws the Heat face, poing guard penetration. I think Wade and LBJ will get their numbers but Bosh will get less touches making him less effective. Especially if they play the drive and kick game. They also dont have post presence.

Okay, first of all. I'm pretty sure that we won't trade for Paul, and that's what I am hoping for as well, because I don't think he would be a good fit.

Of course it is very difficult to defend against the Heat, but we have actually improved quite a lot defensively as we have acquired Barnes and Theo. Nobody has to stop LeBron, Wade nor Bosh, team defense is the key.

Comparing each positision separately is at least in my eyes a dumb thing to do. There are far more factors that the success depends on.

And why are you underestimating Kobe? He already prove you wrong in the finals. Yes, he did struggle in some occasions, but didn't he come out as a winner? And I believe the main reason for his struggles was his health. The guy played through serious multiple injuries, but I guess it is kind of difficult to figure that out by only checking the $tats.

I'm not saying that the Lakers would dominate against the Heat, but I'm confident in our chances.

And lastly. I have never understood bandwagon fans. Could you describe the mental process that went through you when you decided to stop rooting for the Lakers and Kobe?

I wasn't trying to argue about past accomplishments, because that is meaningless with regard to 2011. Kobe's lost a step.

Well Shaq and Duncan had better decades in the 2000s so he's definitely not in the top 3. I think by age 30-32 Wade will be wrecked with injuries as well, but he's better than Bryant at this moment. I have LeBron, Healthy Paul or Wade, Durant, at the top of the league now and projecting into next year.

Well relying on Bynum is probably a little more risky if anything. You could match up well with Miami, but only if he's healthy and if your old core holds up.

You want an older Lakers team with a short window, when you can get someone who's 25 and a Superstar? I think it is the best idea, long-term. Your core is stronger, Paul is just much better than Bynum and usually healthier.

It doesn't seem like it will happen though.

Why would the Heat not be able to use this magical "team defense" as well? Clearly they're superior defensively now on the perimeter. You have to pound them inside to have any chance. You're comparing LeBron-Wade-Bosh to an older Kobe-Gasol-Bynum core. That's not really a discussion at this point in there careers. Unless Bynum goes crazy, but that could be off-set by Kobe's declining game.

Barnes? I guess you didn't watch LeBron against Orlando. Kobe is still your best defender on these guys, but he'll have to waste energy on offense to keep up. A difficult scenario.
    Tell me about these factors.

Really? I said Lakers in 6 or 7 vs Boston. That Boston was the only team LA could match up well with in the Finals this year.

Depends on how you define "winner", with that game 7 performance in mind. I think it proved LA is a serious team to be dealt with, but they're older now. It happens to everyone right?

And how is this contradicting my points about him being old, hurt, and declining?

Well I divorced this team since late 2009, so really I'm not sure what your point is.

I root for my own interests, and the players i respect. Individuals over teams normally.
