I think I give the edge to Brady since his defense is one of the worst in the league, statistically, and his team still has the best record.
I think the media would, too. Rivers' still isn't America's sweet heart. From my point of view, Rivers' leads the league with an 8.9 YPC...that is just damn impressive. Both QB's have been phenomenal. They are easily interchangeable for #1 and 2 in the league. If anything, I think we've got a co-MVP on our hands. You take Brady away from the Patriots and they blow hardcore. You take Rivers away from the Chargers and they're a 0 win team so far.
Right now...probably Brady, because he's doing a lot with a little. However, by the end of the year, I think it could be Vick, assuming he keeps up the asinine pace he's been on most of the year.
Lol. Vick is not the MVP. The only reason why he's being given that label is because of his feel good story. He's a top 3 candidate--the 3rd one. Brady based off of the Patriots' record.
I'm not making it a blowout MVP, but I'd still give it to Rivers. Brady has a lot better running game, and comparable/better receivers. When Rivers or Manning play well, their teams still can't run the ball. Indicative of overall talent to me. Brees is an example of a QB that was affected by running game as well, who is now struggling a little without that aspect. Rivers. Then Brady, then Vick. Oh and nice job, 1 million teams that passed on Vick. You could have had him for nothing. Just like Moss was given away in 2007, makes me think of that. Nice call for me.
I'd go Brady right now. But if the Chargers win 10 games (and he stays on pace), i'd give it to Rivers.

Why? The falcons D has been more important than their passing game. Hell, even their running attack. Ryan's been awesome though. That's also a reason why I would give it to Brady over Rivers. The Chargers D absolutely shits on that shaky Patriots D. Their defense has kept them in those games. Even before Rivers.
Ah true, this is correct. Tolbert's back to back 100 yard rushing games threw me off. Before San Diego's yard per carry and total rush offense was poor again. I was thinking before that, or from last season. Well ask yourself, when was the last time that poster said anything incredibly intelligent? I certainly can't recall such an occasion.
Alright people, no problem I know how to resolve this. Brady is indeed a close MVP, I wanted to reward Rivers based on what he's done in the past. But voting fairly I'd have to vote Brady. However there is a big caveat. Haha... Well no, Special teams have cost the Chargers victories, and key turnovers from role players. That comes from bad coaching (Norv vs Belichick) That has nothing to do with Rivers or Brady. Brady game managed a victory against Rivers, after the surplus of turnovers. Using your own logic, Brady doesn't have enough pass attempts to surpass Rivers if you apply QB rating to pass attempts. This is the dumbed down Brady argument, you're right about that. The intelligent pro-Brady argument would say: He's first in DVOA, a QB rating adjusted for strength of defense and fumbles, etc. He's first in DYAR, DVOA adjusted for pass attempts. He's third in Adjusted Net Yards per pass attempt, top five in AYPA also. In a tougher schedule. So basically he's first in everything right now, and close to Rivers in the last two things I mentioned. The reason to give it to Rivers would be if you think he's in a worse system. Or if you want to award past accomplishments (past three seasons Rivers has been the best QB arguably). possibly penalize homer Patriot fans. Whatever the case, I think it is a close race but amusing. Of course there is one gaping hole in all this... These same advanced stats also say, Brady's a huge choker in the playoffs. While his QB rating makes him an ok playoff QB (still worse than Brett Favre), he struggles incredibly in the advanced figures I mentioned. So that's hilarious to me, and of course true since his yards per attempt is one of the worst in league history. There's no escaping his game managing past, and choking in his prime. Anyway, I might have to give the edge to Brady in the 2010 season. Rivers game managing this past week hurt him a little. In conclusion, either Rivers is still a close favorite to win MVP (the Chargers Special teams has cost them victories) using the dumb stats (QB rating, yards, tds). Or with the savvy numbers you can make an inarguable case that Brady is superior to Rivers but you'd destroy his playoff legend in the process. There's still a lot of season left, but time to face reality.
