I'd bet that one of those bids (probably Russia) ends up falling apart as they start building up the stadia and infrastructure for it. I don't have the same faith in the Russian people that I would put in the South African people to make the Cup happen despite long odds.

The US could host the World Cup if they were informed today and it started on Tuesday. England could probably throw it together in a couple weeks as there are fewer viable stadia in the nation and whatnot. Both would have been massively profitable as the US World Cup in 94 is still the most profitable of all time and England is big enough and small enough at the same time to put on a great Cup. Russia is too big and baren to do well and Qatar is too small and a 115 average high temperature doesn't sound like fun for anyone, despite the promises to air condition the entire country.

I knew we were dealing with a wildly corrupt organization, but this takes the cake. I was speaking with a co-worker who doesn't really follow the sport and told her prior to Blatter's babbling that if Russia gets 2018, the fix/straight cash homey was in and Qatar was getting 2022. I was more disappointed for England getting the shaft first because I knew what was coming when the second envelope was opened.

Qatar's proposed stadiums are killer, hopefully they can do it.

Dunno how they are going to keep the heat down. They'll probably have to mist the field.

Yeah, but really, they have 0 football tradition over there. Recently they hosted Brazil vs Argentina, one of the biggest rivalries on the planet and even that match looked cold and with no passion.

Exactly, Qatar shouldn't have even been a candidate. Russia I can understand being they're both in Europe and Asia. Qatar should have gotten it in another 50 to 70 years from now, when they improve their league, build the stadiums, etc.

FIFA is a joke for not choosing England or Spain/Portugal, Holland/Belgium or even USA.
