    We still have two games left on our "stretch of doom" and it looks like my prediction (5-8) will be a couple of games low.

    Anyway, moving on to the next stretch, the infamous stretch of cupcakedness, I'm aiming high. I think we go 24-4 until February 1 (losses in bold), and begin the month with a 35-12 record:

    * Los Angeles Lakers

    * Indiana

    So you are suggesting we don't blow one game to a team under 500 right now? Not one in the next 28 games? Now that would be incredible.

    Well, you have one thing going for you. We haven't lost to a team with a losing record yet.

    I say 20-8. We can't always win games in which we are the better team.

    Then again, we do have the Unicorn. Do you guys talk about the Unicorn on this board?

    Well, we talk about him, but we don't call him the Unicorn.

    'The Unicorn' is a nickname that just robs a message board of all its credibility.

    And for the subject of the thread, I say we go 20-8. That sounds about right. That would leave us at 32-16 after the stretch, which would put us on pace for 55 wins.

    I don't think we're a 55 win team, but additional injuries and a tougher schedule throughout the season would leave at just over 50 wins, which seems reasonable.

    SST, I'm liking your optimism.

    The team is playing with fire almost every game. Something has to change or there is no way we can pull off that kind of streak.

    Two candidates for change are:

    Carlos gets in shape and gains needed chemistry with Rose.
    Brewer really does live up to his play from 2 years back, and gives Korver the kind of comfort zone that allows him to bury teams when we're ahead.

    Any other thoughts?

    I think what's missing is time to gel. We started the season with virtually an entire new team, and new coaches. I think people, including me, underestimated how long it would take for players and coaches to get comfortable and begin to produce at the top of their games. Experienced players making too many turnovers; weak bench play below their talent level; and not enough utilization of the offense to get easy buckets. I think a giant sting of cupcakes is exactly what the team needs -- and they're going to run with it.

    I think a decent amount of people thought we could beat LA. They really haven't played very well lately, and AFAIK they have not beaten a team with a winning record on the road. They're still a better team than us, but in a slump and on our homecourt, I thought it was pretty much a toss up.

    I'm pretty sure there was one other guy who predicted it. 28 games is way too many to try and predict. You might as well go for the whole season at that point. Anything more than two or three weeks doesn't make a lot of sense.

    Mon, Dec 13 vs Indiana 8:00 PM
    Wed, Dec 15 @ Toronto 7:00 PM
    Sat, Dec 18 vs Los Angeles 8:00 PM
    Tue, Dec 21 vs Philadelphia 8:00 PM
    Wed, Dec 22 @ Washington 7:00 PM
    Sat, Dec 25 @ NY Knicks 12:00 PM
    Sun, Dec 26 @ Detroit 6:00 PM
    Tue, Dec 28 vs Milwaukee 8:00 PM
    Fri, Dec 31 vs New Jersey 3:00 PM
    Sat, Jan 1 vs Cleveland 7:00 PM

    9-1 because that's all Denny wants for Christmas. BG goes for 45 on 15-16 on 3's. Nobody's perfect....

    My prediction looks good so far, if you switch the LA Lakers loss with the LA Clippers. Let's see if they can keep this going.

    Well, so far Denny's right on the money with five losses up 'till now. Though, I still claim that I get a mulligan because of the Noah injury. Denny has us going 4-3 over the next seven. I still think we do a little better than that, and end up going closer to 24-4 than 20-8.
