How do you know this? That's a completely unsubstantiated statement.

I also agree that Rose is ahead of Rondo. Rondo is a pure point, yes, but Rose excels more at everything Rondo does exept passing and steals. Hell, Rondo reaches in alot too, but he does play the passing lanes well. But Rondo has to get better with his offensive game. Teams still give him that mid range jumper because he hasnt shown to consistently hit it, like Rose has. He's also a sucky FT shooter. And I thought I was bad when I practice at the gym, jeez.

Rondo shoots 53% from the field, compared to 45% by Rose. His FT shooting may hurt the team, but his jumper does him just fine. He leads all guards in FG%, actually.

What's Chicago's record when Rose is out and what's Boston's record when Rondo is out? I honestly have no idea what they are, just curious

Well, Rose gets 12 assists passing to a guy with a 6 PER and 3PPG average, Kurt Thomas, Luol Deng, and Taj Gibson.

It's not like any of those guys are even talked about as HOFers.

I feel dirty whenever I compare them. Rondo is a brilliant player and I love watching him play. I do think he would struggle on the Bulls though, and many other teams. Rose grabs ten assists every time his teammates are shooting well. Rose gets them wide open shots, and they're just missing because they are not very good offensive players. I don't know how this affects how we should evaluate Rondo, because his play is perfectly matched for the Celtics. I think that the Celtics would be better with Rose than Rondo though, and I think the conversation about who is better probably ends there.

Why would Rose make the Celtics better? Will they get extra points for being less efficient and playing worse defense?

Who's got the best defense in the league?

    Not Rondo's team.

Ok, and what does that have to do with Rondo/Rose?

You ask if Rose would affect the Celtics D. I don't think it would be any worse. Not only would the Celtics still be great on defense, they'd add a player who can help up your offense from 10th in the league to something much higher than that.

Oh, so team defense means Rose is good? And how will he improve the offense? By taking away shots from more efficient players? I don't think that's correct. He certainty can't distribute like Rondo, either.

And btw, Boston gives up less points than Chicago. Last time I checked, that's how the winner of basketball games are determined.

Wait, this is such a dumb argument. We don't know who would be better. I think Rose and Rondo are both awesome.

Boston plays at one of the slowest paces in the league. Naturally the Bulls will give up a point a game more.

    I didn't say that. I didn't even say he's better than Rondo.

The question is whether the Celtics would be better with Rose, and I think every team would be.

That's fine. It's fantasy land, though. I'd rather discuss things that actually happen than imaginary scenarios.

Don't apologize Denny, Rose is better than Rondo. Anybody who is afraid to get fouled at the end of games because he's a mediocre FT shooter is automatically disqualified from the best PG conversation. And Rose would shoot 53% if 45% of his shots were layups. Rondo absolutely benefits from the players around him.

Sure, Rondo's teammates shoot 50%, Rose's teammates shoot 47%. So Rose would get an extra assist every other game if his teammates shot as well as Rondo's. I concede that point to you.

Or teams running 2 and 3 guys at Rose to try and take the ball out of his hands. He doesn't have a guy like Pierce or like Allen to take the pressure off him. And he scores and dishes anyway.

That should make it easier for him to find wide open teammates.
