We should do this deal before someone sneezes on BWright and he catches pneumonia. So we get a 2nd round pick, but we also get Murphy who's wanted by other teams such as Orlando. They may deal Ryan Anderson for Murphy since he can play some C. Or we can deal Murphy as an expiring for Chris Kaman. Those are just two teams, but we need to make this deal pronto in order to deal Murphy before the deadline.

Melo dealt. Nene, JR Smith, and Felton could be moved before the trade deadline. Bobcats reportedly trying to dump Jack/Wallace.

Glad that he got moved a few days prior to the trade deadline. Sadly, I still doubt the W's make a big move lol.

I just don't see the need to dump Brandon Wright unless you were getting a known quality for him in the deal. He's an ideal asset, he's young, has skills and he's big. The problem's been his health. Not his attitude, nor his contract. Keep developing him. He's only played 3 years, he'd be a senior at NC right now. Keep him.

At this point hes 100% bust. Definitely injury prone (I can't see any argument where you can say hes not injury prone). Seems like the W's FO has given up on him. I was perhaps his biggest supporter when he was drafted, I thought he was right with Horford as the 3rd/4th best prospect in the draft, though obviously hes more of a high potential guy than Horford who was much more polished but with limited potential. His passiveness has always been a problem though and to me thats a pretty damning attribute for a player. Hes put on a little bit of weight this year but still seems rather light and not fond of contact. Doesn't rebound much at all. He still has the same exact offensive game as when he entered the league with the decent baby hook and mediocre jumper out to 14 feet. What does this guy do well? He can block some shots but hes not nearly the presence of an Udoh or even AR in this respect. He is a very poor rebounder and doesn't even body guys up like Udoh at least. I wouldn't say hes a dumb player but theres no bball IQ or intangibles there. The offensive game had potential but its gone nowhere since he came in as a 19/20 year old so why would we expect it to improve out of nowhere?

I know hes young and big men take time but you'd hope that by now we would have seen some strides. Or at least seen some glimpses of positivity or progress. Minor improvements. Something. I don't think hes improved any aspect of his game since his rookie year. If you'll recall he had a brief stretch of starts that year around January where he did alright, which was encouraging, but thats still been the high point of his career. I'd hate to give up on him before he puts it together but to be honest I think even when guys are developing you can eyeball it and tell whether they have it and its just a matter of time before they put it together or not. AR had that quality. He was wild, raw, all over the place, but he'd show you glimpses of his capabilities and make you think wow one day maybe he can get his sh*t together and be a player. BW and AR are shockingly similar in build. The difference is AR has a motor and he plays physically. Hes a gamer. Hes kind of a nutjob lol but I'll gladly take that over the guy who's 10 feet from the rim when the rebound is up in the air. BW's whole career coaches seem to be imploring him to be active, aggressive, run that motor at 100%. And given that hes now clearly a bust, earning little/no playing time, perhaps on the fringe of an NBA career at all you'd think he would be doing just that. Hes not a 30 mpg player. Hes not established. Hes got something to prove. Why the hell isn't he in there crashing the glass, providing explosions of energy jumping all over the place, sprinting to every spot on the floor, etc.?

Hes still only 23 and IMO he could be a good bench player IF he learns to make that motor run 100% like all good bench big men do. But he just doesn't have it. He avoids contact. He is a poor rebounder. He is a poor defender. He has a poor offensive game. He provides very little energy relative to an Udoh or Amundson or Vlad or Gadz or even the established 30 mpg guys like Lee and Biedrins. What does he do? He can block some shots but thats not nearly enough to earn himself playing time. It was acceptable when he was a rookie but I honestly don't think hes improved in any facet of the game since then.

Perhaps you bring him back on a minimum salary but I wouldn't give him the QO of a few million. Hes not an asset at all at this point. Hes a bust player expiring contract. No other team would even trade a 2nd round pick straight up for him. He still does have that potential to get better but its hard to keep the faith in him when there has been such little improvement. Shit, right now he needs to go to the D-League/Summer league more than Udoh and Lin do. And I know those guys were 4 year college players but BW is the same age (maybe older than Lin?) and hes been in the NBA for a few years and hes clearly a non-rotation player while those guys have established themselves as contributors on the club.

BWright was on cusp of getting regular time at the end of training camp last year and he got hurt. He's never gotten any regular time; yes I know that's related to being injured. They're freak accidents, like I've said before I've had two shoulder dislocation surgeries, they come because?? Not because of lack of conditioning or being lazy.

Yes his motor should be going full blast but not when you get yanked around by the likes of Nellie, he's always hated young players.

If he can remain healthy and produce in limited minutes, he will always have value. Young bigmen will always have value in this league, no matter what.

I'm not sure your assessment of Brandan is 100% spot on. He seems to produce every time he's on the floor. It's kind of moot to knock him for his defense or his toughness when the Warriors are the worst in the league in defense and rebounding. That being said, I think Brandan, when he plays, rebounds pretty well. That's just my opinion based on watching him. I don't know what the stats say.

Its certainly not his fault that hes injury prone as opposed to a guy like Baron who is consistently out of shape and then in a contract year gets in great shape and plays 80 games. But he is injury prone. I know the shoulder injuries are a recurring thing, again not his fault, but its a fact. He has issues with that and has for almost his whole career. Not a judgement on him, just a fact.

Yes, he would have value if he stayed healthy and produced in limited minutes. He hasn't done much of either throughout his career though which is why he is currently valueless. Obviously if he started playing 15 mpg and produced and didn't get hurt, we'd keep him or teams would inquire about him and want to trade something of value for him. But again, that just hasn't been the reality.

And I know he doesn't get much playing time and most of his career was under Nellie but now its happening under Smart as well. Despite Nellie's comments about BW in past training camps, so far I think we've certainly seen both AR and Udoh favored over BW by their respective coaches as far as order on the depth chart. Additionally, the fact that we're one of the worst defense and rebounding teams in the league is a testament to how soft BW is. We've been desperate for interior production and rebounding for years and BW has yet to carve his way into the rotation. You are right that maybe I'm judging on too small a sample size since he never plays but I'm trying to think back and find any time where hes earned minutes. Does he do anything better than Udoh or AR who at this point may be no more than average NBA prospects? Literally the only thing I can think of is that he has a better baby hook than AR. Can't think of a single other thing he does better than either.

FWIW hes been playing decently in small stretches lately but apparently hes still not earning the playing time in practice. Hes been more aggressive and mixing it up a bit more but I just don't trust the guys who are so timid. Perhaps the circumstances of his career are holding him back but I just don't see any tangible improvement to his game and I don't think hes physical enough to have a consistent impact down low unless he really changes his entire nature.

Wojnarowski (only NBA reporter with ANY inside sources) says Gadz/BW for Murphy/2nd is close to being completed. I've defended this trade but only if Murphy is kept around. The second is nice but why swap expirings for an expiring that you're going to buy out? Makes no sense to me.

Why even buy him out? Tell him to report and play or just stay home. I just don't get it. They're not saving any money by buying him out, no? The second is nice I suppose but why let him go that easily? We could all complain about Murphy for days but he does have some positives and contenders are waiting for the buyout to add him. He shoots and rebounds, two things any team could always use more of and certainly our bench could use.

And if we do buy him out then we've got two roster spots. Are we just going to give D-Leaguers tryouts? This also seems like a waste as I can't see them cracking our rotation. I dunno the whole thing just seems useless. Perhaps you can look at it as a free second round pick since Gadz and BW never play but fuck it, why not hardball Murphy into staying here. He'll sign and play with a contender, he wants to keep his value up, I think if you strong arm him he'll play and even if not we gain nothing from buying him out. Unless someone is actually offering him a starting PF spot (Orlando?).

EDIT: As a matter of fact we'd actually be paying more for Murphy than we would for Gadz/BW. Murphy's salary is 1.4 mil more than Gadz/BW. I dunno why he would take a pay cut in a buyout. All this for a second rounder? Maybe if its NJ's own second round pick its worth it as that will be a very high 2nd round pick, but I doubt they would give that up over such a simple trade. In a way its almost like Lacob buying the pick outright, which is a good sign. I just doubt that NJ would give a pretty decent pick to save 1.4 mils. lol Maybe they do think BW is decent.

Yeah, doesn't make sense, which is why it makes so much sense...typical Warrior bullshit.

That being said, can we get Jeff Adrien back if this goes through???

Hes floating around the D-League. We could if we want but why? There's got to be some other talent down there at PG/SG/SF that may stick here. Adrien was alright but he's quite limited and would be relegated to 5th in the rotation behind Lee, Beans, Udoh, Lou.

The only way this makes sense is if they want to free up a roster spot for another move. Both guys' contracts run out at the end of this season and they pick up salary on the deal. I guess you could ask if a million dollars is worth shipping Williams to the East Coast? Or freeing up another 1.5 for next season? Really scratching my head

Sam Amick says Nate Robinson may be heading to W's:

    And a thought from Steinmentz:
    http://twitter.com/#!/MSteinmetzCSN

Wonder what we could move to get Nate. Maybe we're flipping Murphy to them? Can't see them trading Vlad. Don't see the Celts swapping Bell for Nate who are on nearly identical contracts.

Jeez, Deron is probably my favorite point guard right now. New Jersey is going to have a heck of a time (or throw a heck of a lot of money) at him to resign in the long term.

It looks like the Boston talks broke down, I think we probably would have given up Reggie in it which wouldn't have been in our favor.

The NJ one looks like both sides holding out for any possible better deals until the trade deadline.

Side Note: See the difference between Lacob and Prokhorov. This is why I wanted Ellison over Lacob. He's agressive. Not afraid to shake things up. What he inherited wasn't working and he made bold moves.

Glad Deron is out of the western conference. The east is getting stacked. And yeah it may be tough to get him to stay but isn't Howard one of the next big names to be an FA? I've read that Prokharov may be targeting a Deron/Howard team.

And yeah apparently the Nate deal is off. Wonder what it was comprised of. Didn't even think of Reggie. Really makes no sense to have a Curry, Monta, Nate back court. One possibility I was thinking of was maybe it was Monta/expiring for Ray Allen/Nate? That one is kind of out there but I can see how it would benefit both teams. Anyway Nate is a nice bench player but I'm hoping the fact that the deal is off means something else came up for a player that fits better on our team.

GS always seems to be the kids left out of the fun, so they pull some second-class, poor-man's trade just do look like they can do something.

The sad part is, to me, Gadz > Murphy. So, Gadz+Wright is definitely > Murphy. At least Gadz would hustle and dive for loose balls. But if GS just wants to buy out Murphy, then if the whole point is just to do all this so they can get a second round pick, well, they're spending an awful lot of $$$$$ just to get a possible future second rounder (not to mention giving up trade assets that could have been used in something, you know, actually productive).

How much will it cost to buy out Murphy's $12 mils contract.... $7 mils? $8 mils? You're doing all of this, just to pay $8 mils for a 2nd round draft pick?

WTF am I missing here? This has to be one of the worst (albeit non-blockbuster) trades in franchise history, if all of this is the case.
