"Lefthander Jaime Garcia, scheduled to start Tuesday night in an exhibition game at Class AA Springfield, may make that start in Jupiter instead on the same day in a game against the Florida Marlins, Cardinals manager Tony La Russa said Sunday. La Russa was basing that statement upon hearing that there was an 80 percent chance of rain in Springfield for Tuesday. La Russa said he would be having dinner later Sunday night with general manager John Mozeliak and chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. to discuss the various possibilities for Tuesday, including leaving more 25-man roster players in Florida to get their work in. "I really don't know from the organizational point of view how they handle that," La Russa said. "You've certainly got to do right by preparations that are going on in Springfield and if there's something we need to do team-wise. "Whatever's the right thing to do, we'll do the right thing. But 80 percent is 80 percent. That's pretty strong. And there is a game here. For one thing, Jaime might pitch here. That would be the one thing." Mozeliak said his information on Tuesday's weather in Springfield was that it wouldn't be awful. He confirmed that the Cardinals would take an "A" team to Springfield and that he expected there to be a game, although he conceded that some players might be left to play in Jupiter, where it is supposed to rain today and perhaps on Tuesday. Whether Garcia pitches in Florida or in Springfield, he is looking for some better results than he has put up through his first five starts, when he gave up 37 hits and 24 runs (15 earned) in only 17 innings. According to Garcia, pitching coach Dave Duncan and La Russa, there isn't anything wrong with his arm or his stuff."
