Looks bleak for the Lakers down 0-2 and now having to win 4 of the next 5 games (three being in Dallas.) The team has lost it's edge and we saw how easy it was to exploit our defense with dribble penetration.

Fisher was left in the starting lineup one year too long and got exploited by Chris Paul in round 1 and now Barrera and Terry in round 2. I didn't think we'd miss Jordan Farmar after the team signed Blake, but we could've used him in this series to defend Barrera and provide some athleticism in the back court.

The main culprit has been Gasol though. When he's assertive and focused this team plays Championship caliber basketball. I'm not sure what happened to him this year. Maybe he's physically and mentally fatigued? Maybe he's dealing with personnel issues off the court? He's clear not the same player that he's been the last two years.

You have to give credit to Cuban putting together a bench designed to beat the Lakers. The Mavs don't even have Butler or Beaubois in the rotation, but have the right pieces to take advantage of the Lakers deficiencies.

Dirk Nowitzki has been unbelievable in the first two games and the Lakers don't have an answer for him.

If the Lakers end up losing the series is it time to blow the team up or do we try again next season with the same roster?

That depends on Pau. If he can prove he will lift his game, then like you said shape, the team wont suffer as much. But if he cant then its time to move him on IF we can swap him for a top PG or PF with great defense. It is harsh to ship him out but he let the team down big time these playoffs, bynum has been carrying the weight down low and he still isnt at a level to handle that.

We have to give a lot of credit to the mavs though, they have been outplaying the lakers these two games, and it will be a long shot for the lakers to come back against such a tough opponent.

If the front office had been sensible, they would have made sure we had a better PG. Fisher has been fairly useless and its obvious his career is over. If we could swap Pau for a top PG or for a PF that actually plays defense or has a great offensive game then the team may be better, but we need something certain.

remember though, everything starts and ends with kobe, and although he has been playing well, he is banged up and it effects the rest of the team and effects the movement of the ball.

What i don't get is... Mavs clearly have the momentum to start the 4th and is steadily pulling away from our bench... Why the f*ck does phil not put kobe in earlier?
