Can't argue with bringing in Jerry West. Bob Myers' much hyped "contacts" already seem to be paying off. Really hope Steinmentz is right that he'll be involved in hiring a coach. What better mentor for Bob Myers too? All of a sudden this front office looks connected and Lacob looks like hes getting after it.

Yeah, there is hope in Warrior land.

With two moves, the Logo and Mr. Myers, Lacob has started reconstructing the Warriors from the top down. A guy who successfully headed the Lakers while they won 7 Championships! He did not win with the Grizz, but he got them to the playoffs and picked one the of the best big men in the past 10 years, Pau Gasol.

I have had faith that Mr. Lacob was a bright guy and that he would utilize his business sense to make the Warriors successful. I think as a VC guy, he's used to avoiding the quick fix to build for the future without making rash decisions. Patience has always been needed.

I understand that you win with your players and we've got the same guys we've had but history shows that even if you have the players, without a top line front office and coach you're nothing.

I've got to believe that seeing Myers and now West, the coaching candidates are taking the Warriors seriously. You think guys like Shaw, Frank, and Brown would have considered the Warriors with Cohan/Rowell/Riley? No way. Now, the Warriors are for real. It may not happen next year, but its going to happen.

Totally agree. Players are key but its pure luck to get a LeBron/Duncan/Rose/etc. Its tough being patient with a flawed roster and mid-level talent but if you don't luck into a franchise player then a great ownership and front office is the next best thing you could hope for. Is Lacob a dedicated, resourceful owner? The jury is still out but I like the hirings of Myers and West. West adds a hell of a lot of clout, legitimacy, and experience to the Lacob/Riley/Myers braintrust. They're unproven as a unit but I'll take that foursome as my front office. Between those four you have all the bases covered of what you want in a front office. I'm not going to get my hopes up and assume they'll make us a contender in a matter of a few years but I like the unit and I'll gladly roll with that.

Front office is covered for the near future, hopefully they make a good choice for coach and we get some better basketball and stability in warriorland. Please god stay away from McHale and I'm not a fan of Brown either. I have a good feeling about Shaw but I'm not sure I'd like him to force the triangle on this roster. Plus being an assistant to Phil doesn't automatically make you a good coach. Not sure a Phil Jackson disciple will preach defense as much as I'd like too. Dunno if I can stand another coach who refuses to put Lee on the pick and roll (again, why the FUCK did we sign him if his number one trait is pick and roll play?). Frank sounds good. I liked Dwane Casey but looking back on his tenure with Minny he really didn't have a great record although those teams weren't that talented outside of KG. Very limited sample size with him.

Actually, Billy Knight drafted Pau Gasol. Jerry West, although not directly responsible, seemed to be the catalyst for bringing Marc Gasol to the Grizzlies.

This is a great move by the Warriors FO.

If the Warriors were smart they would hire Mike Budenholzer "Coach Bud" from the Spurs bench.

This is an excellent move for the Warriors as it gives them NBA credibility. Wow. Things are finally looking up for the Warriors.

I can see West's influence on a coaching hire. Or who they select in the draft. Or who do they keep to build around.

Kawakami had a good article on it today:

I'm expecting playoffs in two years and a new direction besides smallball. .500 isn't good enough in the Pacific Division anymore, so both Myers and West will have their work cut out for them.

I'd ask West if the triangle will work in GS-land. Probably not, but he may recommend it with certain players. Maybe Jackson or Shaw would be more inclined to come to GS. Or DHoward, free agent, would consider the Warriors now. Do you see the possibilities?

West gives us some more credibility but I'd be shocked (understatement) if that was enough to convince Dwight or any great players that they want to play here. Only way Phil Jackson comes here is if we do get Dwight lol.

But I think for those 5 or 6 coaches being named in every team's coaching vacancy that it means a lot to them that West is here. Adds instant credibility to our FO and makes Lacob look like he'll do whatever it takes to win.

And also I'd be pro-Budenholzer as well.

This is great news. The warriors front office gets people with vision and great knowledge of the game + assembling a competitive team.

Hopefully we won't have another Adonal Foyle and Dfish type signings. The only way I can explain why Mullin did that was because he was friends with those players.

The Maggette signing sounded like sheer panic and I'm not sure who is at fault with that one.
