http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=20154 I can't imagine anyone not doing it on the lakers side I just hope that if ever we decide to deal Gasol, we're able to sell high!
In order for a deal to get done I think a third team would need to be involved. The Cavaliers have been trying to acquire the #2 pick so how about this trade. Lakers Receive Kevin Love & Baron Davis #20 pick TWolves Receive Pau Gasol #4 Pick in the Draft Two of the Lakers 2nd rounders Cavaliers Receive #2 Pick in the Draft Darko Milic Anthony Tolliver Martell Webster Trade was successful on ESPN Trade Machine using current salaries. Lakers roster would be PG - Baron Davis, Derek Fisher, Steve Blake SG - Kobe Bryant, Shannon Brown SF - Ron Artest, Matt Barnes, Walton PF - Kevin Love, Lamar Odom C - Bynum
I Love that trade Shape!!! On a side note, Lakers are looking to shop odom for a lotto pick WTF. Even if it is the #2, i wouldn't trade LO. Maybe in next years draft.
you know what? thats really good, i think cleveland jumps all over it, i think the lakers jump all over it, and i think minny gets what they want as well, while still getting the #4
New rumor ... While the Timberwolves are publicly maintaining they're likely to hang onto the No. 2 pick, sourced chatter continues to hum that they're actively looking to move the pick as the draft nears. And as Sports Illustrated's Sam Amick reported via Twitter on Tuesday, Lakers center Andrew Bynum is one such target of Minnesota. "As Minnesota continues search for high-level player in exchange for No. 2 pick, source says T-Wolves made offer for Bynum," he tweeted. "They are incredibly active right now trying to turn that pick into an impact player." As we noted in the Wolves-Pau Gasol update, the Lakers aren't likely to trade Andrew Bynum as he's a favorite of Jim Buss. As such, we wouldn't expect the Lakers to bite on this offer from the Wolves.
Kind of a pipe dream, but if ever we do trade Pau... id like it to be for someone like Horford. He'd be a complement to Bynum's game coz' he's used to being the 3rd or even 4th option on the hawks offensively. Also, if ever we do try to acquire players (while keeping kobe, of course, pau, bynum, odom) id like the lakers to look at iggy, felton, hinrich and maybe even josh smith (willing to trade odom for this one)
I wouldn't do Gasol for the 2nd straight up. If Minny is serious about wanting to pair him with Rubio because of their Spanish connection, then they'll buckle and give up Love, as well. I'd do that trade in a heart beat. Bynum for the #2? No.
Josh Smith or Iggy are exactly what we need to bring more athleticism to the roster. On the downside neither guy can create off the dribble or shoot a high percentage from the outside, which are needs for the Lakers. Right now Kobe is the only guy who can create off the dribble on a consistent basis. I'd like to see how Odom can evolve his defensive game under Mike Brown. He has the physical tools to thrive in Mike Brown's defensive schemes if he commits to it. There's been too much talk with the Lakers-TWolves getting a deal done that it likely won't get done at all. The Lakers usually make a move out of the blue and with the CBA up in the air they might not be willing to make any blockbuster trades.
Shape, who the fuck are you kidding? Odom commit to something? The guy is a career underachiever! The only thing he's committed to is his fucking reality show. I'd love to ship his ass out to Cleveland for the 4th pick and Varejao or Sessions and work a way to draft Kemba Walker.
Bynum is pretty much untouchable, just as kobe is, bec. of jim buss. Gasol for the no.2 pick (derrick williams or even irving) would simply be shooting ourselves in the foot. How do you think we could acquire iggy/smith or felton if they were indeed available to us?
Since Brown specifically said we'd try to emulate the spurs of old with Kobe being Manu, Pau being Tim.. I agree with Mamba, we should try to get Kemba Walker (but w/o giving up too much). He'd be our version of Tony Parker. Then Artest can be the bad boy in SJax/Bowen, Bynum will be David Robinson, Fisher will be Kerr hahaha 2003 Spurs!!! (is it obvious that im bored that i can find so much similarities between 2 totally diff. teams LOL)
Odom is coming off one of his most productive seasons as a Laker. He had a career high in PER (19.4) and W/S (10.1) His W/S was only slightly less than Kobe last year (10.3) Odom finally had an injury free offseason and came in shape to start the season after playing with Team USA. He's finally matured and should buy into coach Brown's game plan.
And he had a career year in Miami, too. We've seen this with Odom before. Where was he when his reality show started towards the end of the year and the post season?
im looking foward to see if odom can carry his sucess into next season, but like mamba, im skeptical. but i wouldnt want to trade him, his position is too hard to fill for us right now, and he plays a very important role in this teams success. im warming on my stance of gasol, i just dont think we can get what we need by trading him. i think by adding a talented point guard in the mold of tony parker, we can become much more succesful. on that point, parker actually may be available, and perhaps involving a third team with us and the spurs could help us to snag him without losing bynum and pau. its the only scenario that i would consider letting odom go. it seems iggy and jsmith are both available for the right price, so perhaps they would improve our position at starting SF, as i dont think we can win another ring with ron ron in the starting lineup, but the real problem is the point guard situation. which makes it hard for us becuase its unusual to trade big for small, and our only trade assets are big.
Dallas was a bad match up for our entire roster because of the breakdowns at point guard and inability to defend the pick and roll. I don't think the reality show had much impact on Odom, I think Gasol playing poorly along with pathetic PG play was more damaging to Odom's production. He just needs to make sure Shannon Brown stays away from his wife. =) I like Varejao, but he's limited and doesn't bring anything close to Odom's versatility. Varejao also has a long contract and his health issues have to be a concern with the way he plays. Are you ready to hand the reigns over to Kemba Walker? He might be a nice building piece for the future, but the Lakers need to focus their efforts on winning now.
At some point, we're going to have to tie winning now with building our future up. I'm more than happy with a future involving Walker and Bynum. Kobe is on the decline, now is the perfect time to start mixing up winning now with the future. Nobody is asking Kemba to come in here and be an impact all-star level talent right away. Let him come in here and learn the ropes and get mentored by Fish and Kobe while we still can contend. If trading Odom for the #4 nets us Walker, I'd do it. It leaves us with Gasol and Bynum in the front court and Varejao off the bench. Odom isn't a necessity, he's a luxury and his impact on games declined as Bynum's MPG went up towards the end of the year.
Ric Bucher is saying that LA's trying to get an Odom + Walton trade to the Sixers for Iguodala. Not sure if Sixers would want that, but what do you think?
If Mitch can pull that deal off I'll be very impressed. I don't see why Philly would want any part of it. Last night and this morning Odom was being mentioned in a deal with Cleveland for the #4 pick after Minnesota rejected Odom for the #2 pick. The Warriors also rejected Odom + Shannon for Monta Ellis.
