To no one's surprise, the San Francisco 49ers reached a one-year agreement with quarterback Alex Smith, a source told ESPN.com senior NFL writer John Clayton.

Smith will receive a one-year deal worth around $5 million, the source said.

San Francisco picked Colin Kaepernick in the second round out of Nevada in April's draft, but Smith had been expected to return as the 49ers' starting quarterback.

We got more weapons for him. This is it right here. Davis, Edwards, Gore... he has tools to work with. I would have dumped him already. Dammit. He better prove me wrong! WE WANT POST SEASON in SF!
