Just kidding. I'm done. Da O is a good seed and I think we're done. He admits, just like Fish does, they have no defensive backgrounds. :) The issue is the names you've mentioned change per venue. Didn't NA recently say our defense has "evolved" but the foundation or fundamentals remain the same?

    Peace out!

Good convo and I'm done too . To get back into recruiting news here's a couple of stories I can drop on you guys.

First off is this story from DT

And also I have some info into 2013 recruiting.

News is breaking out that Oregon is after a number of highly sought after recruits from the 2013 class. Here are some names.

WR Robert Foster from Pennsylvania will most likely be a 4-5 star WR that can also play safety. Oregon is reportedly after him hard.

DB Cole Luke from Arizona will more than likely be a 3-4 star and he is teammates with Duck commit Reggie Daniels

RB Dontre Wilson from Texas will be a 4 star(mostly due to size) but he is extremely fast. We will look to use him at the TAZR position.

Good stuff, Da_O. I'm particularly excited about the possibility of Thomas Johnson, for some reason. I think I like the idea of further developing our pipeline into Texas.

This is regarding Bryan Harper, from ESPN:
It looks to me like he's attached at the hip to Demetrece Martin. UCLA did a good job of getting good recruiters as assistants.

6'7 300 pounds, he grew up in England. I'd love to hear this guy talk as he might top Mike Tyson in disconnect between looks and speaking voice

But yes at that size that Watson dude would be nice to have. Also runs a 4.7 40 according to rivals! :MARIS61:

A pretty good story about Watson (who still seems to have Auburn as his leader, fwiw).

Very new to the sport (originally went to Marist to play basketball and had never played football), but he sounds like a heck of an athlete and a guy worth pursuing.

On the not so good side, verbal commit Cody Carriger from Butte, MT, didn't even make AA first-team all-state on either offense or defense, yet wasn't injured this season. That's probably not the best of news, considering I think he's the only BCS conference recruit from Montana this year.

could be worrisome. But I also wonder what it could be about (system, other issues I dont know) Carriger was thought of as a project type player at least. I'll take the wait and see approach (not that you arent). System wise I also think the likes of David Paulson is a hell of a lot better of a TE than his stats show him to be here.

After being offered by Tennessee and Texas A&M this afternoon, De'Vante Harris just cancelled his visit and said he doesn't plan to reschedule. :MARIS61:

Harris was waiting for A&M to offer and Hopkins says Johnson wants to leave the state of Texas for a school. It shouldn't sway him at all.

With Harper and Damariay Drew in the mix it's really not that big of a loss.

Some other news, Mickens was offered by OK ST, and now he will visit them instead of WSU.

Re: 2012 FOOTBALL Commits and Recruits

Vanderdoes(eddie) D-line, has Oregon as his #1. I know because after destroying our O-line this year at Del-Oro I play basketball with his grandfather every week and Oregon is his target school. As a duck fan I would love to see this happen!

    Question for Da_O,

This is not an effort to re-kindle a silly debate but a legit question I was mulling over - and I realized I didn't have the answer to.

I believe it was you, who said someone named Justin Hopkins has broke the story on a lot (did you say a lot?) of recruiting stories and commits.

Is this something you're 100% sure of? Can you give specifics?

The reason I ask is because I've been a subscriber to educk for roughly ten, maybe eleven years. They have been at this a long time and have deep and far reaching sources within the program that go back decades.

The reason I don't post a lot of the stories they share on educk is because Steve and Marty have requested (personally) that recruiting news stay on the recruit board and not taken over to other educk boards - so I have respected that and assumed that meant not bringing the news to other boards like sportstwo. Those guys are great people (who I've met and hung with over the years) so I've tried to respect them, their info and their request.

Over the years (including this season) I've seen countless times where they shared info that wasn't public for days - just some off the top of my head are the commits of Ngata, J-Stew, Durocher, etc. They often have stories of family and athlete interviews when other sources (even media) can't touch the people.

So, my question, legit, is are you 100% sure that Hopkins breaks news and is the single recruiting source and are you knowledgable of other sources out there? I'm asking because I'm not up to date on how Hopkins operates or his stories, but if what he's reporting is reflected here, it seems on par and sometimes behind the info on Educk.

Thanks for you input, man. I'm really happy with Educk, but if there are better sources out there, I would be willing to get on board there too.

I don't think that sharing non-public information to a group of people that agree not to make it public is "breaking" a story. Almost by definition. :)
