I don't think so.... right now we could have close to enough for two max deals. It would hinder our ability at getting multiple big name free agents.
15-20 million right now I have heard Hickson chews up 5-6 of that, Batum will chew up 8 of that, so best case scenario it looks like 7 million available This is of course if Crawchuck doesn't opt in. Then it's lower
PER = 24.0, WS/48 = .191, TS% = .632, eFG% = .654, ORtg = 117, DRtg = 103. It didn't take Hickson long to establish himself as our best player. BNM
Evidently, you never saw Greg Ostertag play. Hands of steel. Reminds me of the robot "Clank" on the Lost In Space TV show decades ago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RG0ochx16Dg
I felt he is playing for a contract too. But he is producing in a spot we need. Someone in the paint can score. And he is a blue collar player. The kind I like. I hope we keep him, but not for a lot of money. We seem to fit his style of play, pretty well.
Joel looks like he's put on at least 20 pounds since prior to the patella injuries... thats not helping his cause. He was shut down for quite a while so it's understandable that his weight went up, but I expect he'll be in better shape by next fall. Dude is a hard worker STOMP
He's definitely worth a roster spot next season for his age and offensive game alone. That being said, I was far less enamored with his rebounding ability. Dude has the body, height and athletic ability to be a far better rebounder, but from what I watched lacked the desire. There was a possesion in the 2nd quarter where I watched as he stood directly under the basket as a ball was shot, watching the ball, and not putting a body on Ibaka who easily possitioned himself to grab the miss and lay it back in. It's fundamental basketball, and it irritates the hell out of me to watch NBA players not do it! In fairness though, Aldridge and everyone else in a Blazers uni not named Joel Pryzbilla are terrible at it to. It's ridiculous the amount of second chance points we've allowed this season.
That's right. If we were to keep Hickson we might not be able to sign both Elvis and Bigfoot! You funny!
Not understanding where you found the humor? If we keep him, his cap hit takes up 5-6 million in our cap space. Unless I misunderstood and you don't think we can attract a big time free agent. If that's the case. I agree with you
Although I agree his rebounding last night was not impressive, he did average close to 8.7 rebounds a game last year in Cleveland. Not great but not bad.
I have liked Hickson for a while... I assume there's something wrong with him, that he'd be moved so much. I like that the Blazers got him for nothing and (assuming he's not damaged goods in terms of injuries or attitude) it's nice to know that we might end up keeping him around. He's still only 23 and has put up pretty good numbers the last couple of years. He plays the PF spot, which is one of the easiest to fill, but given the lack of depth up front on the Blazers roster heading into next year, he DOES seem like a keeper. Ed O.
With his cap hold, I just don't see the value of keeping him as a back-up PF. Depends on how lucky the Blazers get in the draft, I suppose.
