Yup. He's pretty much the same exact age, height, and weight as LaMichael was during his Redshirt Freshman year when he ran 230 times for 1546 yards. LMJ recently stated that DAT is faster though

right, all I've got is a famous recent example to counter your bluster

no doubt, luckily none of us are. I'm just a fan who pays attention and make no hilarious claims to know better then Coach Kelly and Co like you do.

Since I attended UO in the 80's pretty much every single featured back at Oregon has suffered injuries that held them out of games. LaMichael, Legarrette, Jeremiah Johnson, Johnathan Stewart, Ruben Droughns, Onterio Smith, to name a few of the better known ones. It's a rough game and everyone is injury prone. Hopefully Oregon continues its relatively good luck on the injury front as thats about the only thing I see keeping them from being an elite team this year.

here's hoping Oregon adds another 5'10 175 speedburner to their flock tomorrow :pimp:

DAT is faster the LMJ we all know that.... so you bringing that up is a no brainer....
LMJ has considerably more muscle than DAT at this juncture and we all know that too.

As for all Ducks getting injured in and that's football, think for "ONCE" that most people on this board have played ball at some level "some of us more than others" and know about injuries, so no need to act like an expert, and considering how good the Ducks were in the 80's I presume you were a starter then? That said, it's safe to say that if Barner gets hurt the drop off in experience could be massive and I personally don't want to put DAT's body through that type of punishment which I believe takes away from his overall effectiveness. Thus the need to find some Blundt like recruits. That's why this whole discussion started!

As to the fact that you didn't respond to the SEC part of my previous post I think we must be agreeing that Oregon may run the Pac but the big boys we should be recruiting to beat have their shit together and we might want to be respectful till we beat them more than once!

Calm down, take a deep breath, and everything will be just fine.

    Talking to myself of course...

somehow you're not following along. LMJ started his Jr year of eligibility at 195 pounds. When he was a 19 year old Redshirt Freshman he was 180 pounds yet was the featured every down back. DAT is now 19 and the same height and weight as LMJ was when he dominated putting up the most yards by a Freshman in Pac 10 history. Don't you see how that flies directly counter to your wild assertions?

    sensing a pattern

    OOOoookay... :rolleyes2:

    Welcome to Oregon Dontre Wilson!

This is very exciting. There is still time, of course, for Texas or Ohio State to try to steal him, but it seems like his family situation is pretty solid and there's less room for him to be changing his mind late in the game.

some chatter that Oregon's next commit may be Georgia QB Anthony Jennings who (according to his coach & Twitter) is coming out on an unofficial in a couple of weeks

I think we're good on QBs for the time being. We need LBs, a DE, and OL first and foremost.

no one signing between today and LOI day in February will be playing until at least fall 2013 and lots of things could change between now and then. I'm sure that the coaches are pursuing and will be signing players at the positions you listed and many others. Quality depth across the board is a good thing

It's not an either-or situation... the Ducks should take a QB this class, and if they can get a good one to commit early, then they won't be scrambling at the end of the signing period.

I believe Jennings was visiting Missouri this weekend, and expects to announce in a couple of weeks. It looks like Oregon has a pretty good shot.

Worst case is this kid can be turned into a CB, or reciever if the QB pipeline gets to full. He's got good secondary size.

Georgia QB Anthony Jennings has been upgraded to 4* in the latest round of rivals ratings. He's been invited to be one of the 35 or so finalists competing to make the elite 11 QB camp

He's in Eugene this last weekend and has been tweeting positives about possibly commiting

5* Virginia RB Derrick Green will be visiting UO this summer in conjunction with the elite Nike camp The Opening. Not that it really matters, but Green has moved ahead of Tyner in the latest round of rivals RB rankings and is their new #1 rated back

This tells me that Tyner injuries are concerning to Chip and crew.... If this kid was to commit here I think Tyner would be gone.... I played against this high school when I was growing up and I'll promise you Vtech, Clemson and FSU guys are at every one of his games. Beamer will try and keep him home.

I think Injuries to RB's and possibility to them are of chief concern to any coach. Next year we are still looking thin at RB with Barner gone, and that leaves Marshall, Thomas, Tyner, and Ford. With Wilson probably redshirting.

I cant name too many RB's in the recent past for Oregon who werent Dinged up. J-Stew, JJohnson, Barner, LMJ, DAT, Cant remember on LGB if he ever got dinged, but also gotta keep in mind attrition too. Too many RB's is never a bad thing for the team.

Prior to Tyner committing, the chatter on rivals from those much more on top of things then I were projecting Oregon to take 2-3 RBs in this cycle to get their depth chart in order after the early loss of James & attrition of Carson, Seastrunk & DWilliams. Good teams typically have quality depth at all positions and let competition decide who plays. Oregon looking to fill their cupboards with more good players isn't an indictment of others already comitted, it's what should be expected. Geez, look at USC's roster, or Texas, or Alabama...

The Ducks have almost no RBs on their current roster. Snapping up three in a class isn't crazy, given that, and if we're going to get three we should try to make them as good as possible.

Now, there's no guarantee that all three stay for more than a year or two, but by that time we might have had injuries or players going pro or whatever. I'll take my chances with more talent than less.

I just think it will be hard on the high school ego for two 5*'s to share the same bowl! They are both in the top 5 on most sites for best RB's......

VTech will aim to keep him, and Virginia is a rising team with London at HC.

I hope to god Chip gets this kid Green. I like him.

But then again, Bama may gank him in order to groom a new Trent Richardson
