I recommend you guys all read this article by Rusty Simmons:

    http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2012/06/06/SP421OT4KO.DTL

He generally doesn't seem to know much about basketball, but he seems to have a relationship with West and may be tight with some other people in the front office. Its pretty long so I'll post the bullet points:

    - "The Warriors thought they had worked out a trade last summer for Iguodala, but the deal, which would have brought the swingman west in exchange for Monta Ellis, was vetoed while the 76ers were in the process of being sold. Iguodala remains on the Warriors' wish list, and they've expressed similar interest in Portland's Nicolas Batum, Chicago's Luol Deng, Memphis' Rudy Gay, Indiana's Danny Granger and Atlanta's Josh Smith."

    - Gay and Granger could be shopped this summer, Deng and Batum unlikely to move.

    - The Warriors ideally would like to deal the No. 7 pick, one of their selections in the 30s and Dorell Wright for an upgrade at small forward.

    - "The Warriors think Andre Miller might have played his way over mid-level money with a strong playoff showing, but they believe they have a good chance at landing Jason Kidd. If Deron Williams signs with Dallas, the Warriors can tempt Kidd with the mid-level exception and offer the Bay Area native a front-office job after he retires. They'd also consider Kirk Hinrich and Raymond Felton, though those players might hesitate at being regarded as backups."

    - "The Warriors see Kentucky's Kidd-Gilchrist as the draft class' best fit for their roster."

    - Plan A is use the 7 plus whatever to land a starting SF, then get big man depth at 30/35 and use the MLE for a backup PG. Plan B is try to get MKG, roll with Jenkins at backup PG, and try to land Darrell Arthur with the MLE (Reggie Evans, Kris Humphries, and Kwame Brown are backup options).

    - Doesn't offer all that much insight as to who they would take at 7 if no trade options are available, but repeats the sentiment that they may move back and try to get Terrence Jones or Leonard Myers, whom they like.

Interesting about the Iggy trade that fell through, I'm glad we ended up moving Monta for Bogut though. I love that Andre Miller is atop our FA list, Kidd's a shell of himself but would be nice to back up Curry and mentor him plus let him be involved with the franchise. Also like Hinrich. Out of all the SF targets I like Gay and Batum the best. Rumor has it that Memphis will try to move Gay in order to keep the rest of their FA.

As for MKG, there's a chance he could slip a bit. Cleveland reportedly loves Barnes because he and Kyrie are BFFs and they need a SF. Washington allegedly really likes Beal. Charlotte is a wild card but MKG could fall to 5/6 and it may be easier to trade up from there. Especially if he falls to 6 where Portland already has Batum.

Warriors working out P. Jones and T. Jones on Monday per Marc Spears. Should be an interesting battle. Chicago pre-draft camp is today through Fri so Warriors will have done interviews with them already I assume.

I wish I could be there for that workout. Anyone have access that can give us some insight?

Probably going to have to rely on the local beat writers' "sources".

In addition to PJIII and T. Jones, Tyler Zeller and Festus Ezeli will also be at the workout, along with two guys I've never heard of.

Sounds like MTIII and Kawakami had 2 totally different views on the event.

Something tells me that there's a huge move on the horizon. Once the Amnesties start flying, this could be a very interesting off-season

Who would you go for if you have to choose between either Jones? I'd go for Perry Jones. Reason: More upside and more belief he could play a SF position and be a matchup nightmare. All of his weaknesses can be correctable e.g. toughness, inconsistency, rebounding, being passive

In all honesty, if no great trades open up, I'd be stoked if the Warriors end up with both PJIII and Sullinger, then add Roy. I think that's a playoff team.

Disagree. Is toughness and passiveness correctable? How is he going to amount to any kind of above average NBA player if he can't even muster up the competitiveness to be anything but average at the college level?

    T. Jones is too slow and a bit lacking in skill (as is PJIII). Those can be fixed. He could drop 10 lbs and improve his perimeter game. Dunno if PJIII is ever going to be tough enough to make the impact hes capable of.

I don't think anyone outside the top 5 picks are going to be contributing starters for 3-5 years. But this is going to be the draft that fills the bench with consistent players. That's why I'm not jumping up and down over anyone in particular.

I hope you're joking Phil? If that's their guy, they can easily trade the #7 for more value than that in a proven player

No joking. When I saw Zeller, I saw a guy who was big, tough, with a soft touch and great footwork. I say no to Barnes (too passive, no grit, he's been hyped for 2 years and he did zip) and no to Lilliard or Waiters (guy doesn't start at Syracuse and he somehow can start in the NBA?)

Sure I love Davis and MKG, but that's it. I think Terrence Jones can play in the NBA, he's another tough guy.

BTW, anyone else see that now the Pistons have been afflicted with the Maggette disease (Maggette for Gordon). Wow, someone else will learn.

Lastly, anyone see Fisher, in one of the biggest possessions of the Finals, GM. 3 I think, maybe 4, late 4th, Thunder on a run, about to take the lead, Fisher leading the break with Durant and Westbrook on the wings, dishes??? NOOOOOO, he's taking it to the rack and.........SWAT!!!!!!!! All I could think was "Oh my, that's Fisher at his best from his GSW days."

Zeller is a poor man's Adam Morrison, IMO. I'm all for trading the pick, or taking a gamble on Sullinger

Maggette is just a salary dump. And Fisher, I said the same thing to my brother.

No, I disagree with the Adam Morrison comparison.

For one thing I thought he had decent athleticism for a 7 foot dude, the guy is not a overly powerful like an Andrew Bogut, but he is clearly a guy that can play a little bit down low in the post, is crafty at drawing contact, and he has pick and pop potential in the halfcourt and can play within run n' gun type offenses. He also has nba 3 point range potential making him a rare inside/outside guy at 7 feet tall.

With Andrew Bogut's potential for injuries, Biedrins' low productivity, having Zeller as an insurance policy is a good thing. Plus, he can split time between PF and C. He's a good, versatile option when health or "rawness" is a concern among the big men squad. He kind of has low upside (as in his body is nothing special in the nba level), but unless we get an impact SG/SF through free agency, we have to look at our positional needs as well as who can make the most impact at any position. He is definitely higher ceiling than Sullinger IMO.

Also, these picks are all over the board, so I guess it really depends who the warriors are really in love with. Zeller is a very safe pick who probably can produce in several categories and has maturity that some rookies don't have. Frankly, we could use another big men IMO given who we have. Swing men are not as important as having a good facilitator or anchor(s) in the paint.

the mention of PJIII sounds really intriguing but he very well may be fool's gold. Another great body with no true position or expert feel for any particular aspect of the game.

Obviously, the Warriors have to go with their gut and hopefully the warriors scouts have a good gut. Doesn't matter if the pick is too high for a certain player, if the guy is worth it, draft him if you can't trade down or swap picks with a team.

IMO, both big men Zeller and Sullinger seem useful and are all-around offensively with strong motors, but are extremely lacking in upside for a #7 lotto pick. Plus, where is the defensive ability or potential. I'm thinking if we want a strong mixture of offense and defense we get swing men like Terrence Ross or Jeremy Lamb. Guys like Sullinger or Zeller are very safe picks with limited upside and I don't see them doing what Bogut would do for us on defense. I do like the intangibles and the rebounding, but only one guys scores the ball on offense. If we draft a big man at #7 I'd want a big who has defensive potential and has pretty good all around offense.

If we really want to be a defensive team, we have to start drafting guys that aren't physically limited at the nba level in guarding their opponents individually. Team defense is cool, but having that guy that can smother an opponent is even better.

I think raged more with Fisher than I ever did Foyle. Worst signings you could saddle a rookie coach with: A "point guard" that can't run a simple fastbreak or finish at the hoop and a center that can't even catch a simple pass or make layups or get a rebound.

Sorry for the triple post, but here's my picks:
No on any of the combo guards.

Jeremy Lamb (nice potential, all-around ability, if he can get consistency and work on his body and mental game)
Austin Rivers (fits the whole son of a coach / nba player mold we seem to have been doing so far)
Terrence Ross (dude reminds me of Jrich only better ballhandle and defense)
Zeller or Sullinger (kinda the same guy IMO) if we have to go the good role player route at #7.

Lockdown guys I see are Kidd-Gilchrist (obviously) and Terrence Jones. Was really disappointed to hear that the W's did not like his workout. CR2, I agree we need tough, physical guys. Zeller is not Howard or Bynum, but he's not Fuller or Shawn Bradley either.

Harrison Barnes- what do you guys think?

Was never that impressed by him at UNC, but I think its a solid enough pick at 7. Many think he'll be a better pro than he was a collegiate player. We'll see how he translates, but I do love his size and athleticism at SF. Apparently he's a willing defender and hard worker, hes chiseled, hes a legit SF and he'll keep Klay at SG.

Damn PJIII just went at 28!
