In April the UFC flew Dana White and Chael Sonnen to Rio for a press conference to announce the upcoming rematch between Sonnen and incumbent champion Anderson Silva--despite the fact Silva had refused to agree to the bout. Silva, incensed at Sonnen's disrespectful manner and cheating ways, told the UFC he would accept a bout with anyone except Sonnen. He felt that the challenger hadn't earned a rematch despite straight wins over contenders Brian Stann and Michael Bisping, saying that Sonnen needed to overcome his past transgressions with an exceptional run of wins. The UFC disagreed and offered Silva the rematch in an outdoor stadium in Brazil to appease him. When the Rio show had to be canceled due to a United Nations event in the city at the same time, moving the fight to Vegas, Silva snapped. The press conference in Rio was delayed because White was attempting to convince a heated Anderson Silva to accept the fight for hours, while Chael Sonnen waited in the wings to come out and promote the fight. Silva has since accepted the bout but hasn't gotten over his anger towards Sonnen and the UFC, as evidenced by his abrupt and scathing conference call this month in which he claimed he wanted to change the landscape of the sport by viciously maiming Sonnen in the octagon. http://mmajunkie.com/news/29481/dan...atch-that-almost-wasnt-silva-vs-sonnen-ii.mma
