Golden State has traded swing man Dorell Wright to Philadelphia for a future draft pick, according to CSNPhilly.com Insider Dei Lynam. Wright's departure gives Golden State more room to maneuver during free agency. The Warriors save up to $4 million with Wright gone, which gives them roughly $8 million of cap space before exceeding the luxury tax. http://www.csnbayarea.com/basketbal...de-Wright-to-76ers?blockID=738196&feedID=2539
I read that the W's now stand at roughly 61.5 mils in salary for 2012-13. Per TK the lux tax line is roughly 70 mils. I think with this deal we can use most/all of the MLE and still keep Rush if he comes at a reasonable price.
Dorell was a nice story in 2010 but as I've said previously, he became a lousy defender and a surprisingly unathletic SF (at the most athletic position) who could not dribble reliably, create, nor finish at the rim. I wish him luck but don't think he'll be getting anything beyond a league minimum in the future.
Agreed philsmith. Seemed like a nice guy and had a great first season with us. Really regressed last season. Rush is better and Richard Jefferson probably also gives you at least as much as DW. Plus there's Barnes waiting in the wings and McGuire could even come back. I was fine with moving him in a salary dump, but now we find that we're actually getting Jarret Jack in return? Fine by me.
Dorrell Wright is actually a pretty good athlete in terms of jumping, but he is not quick. All of his shortcomings aside, he was the right guy to pick at the time, but he wanted out after that Monta trade. Barnes will most likely be a complete upgrade (better defender, better shooter and better passer) with Richard Jefferson as the backup if Barnes is ready to be a starter right now. Jarret Jack is a good role player to have. He's going to be strong defensively and he can go inside effectively. He's decent to average shooter from inside the arc. He's got good point guard qualities despite the turnovers and mediocre up-tempo game. We're looking pretty deep sans the power forward position. We got tons of options at PG, SG, SF and C
